Responsibilities
- Lifting Authority & Governance
Serve as the designated Appointed Person (AP) for offshore lifting operations across the APAC region.
Provide technical leadership and governance for all lifting and load handling activities.
Develop and maintain lifting standards, procedures, and best practices aligned with industry regulations and company requirements.
Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, IMCA, BS 7121, ISO standards, local regulations, and client-specific requirements.
Act as the technical authority for lifting-related risk management and assurance activities.
- Planning & Engineering
Review, approve, and authorize lift plans, critical lift studies, and lifting risk assessments.
Develop engineered lifting solutions for complex and non-routine offshore operations.
Verify crane capacities, rigging arrangements, load calculations, load paths, and environmental limitations.
Support project teams during tendering, planning, execution, and close-out phases.
Ensure lifting operations are adequately resourced with competent personnel and certified equipment.
- Operational Excellence
Participate in project mobilizations, offshore campaigns, and vessel readiness reviews.
Conduct lifting operation audits, inspections, and assurance reviews across APAC projects.
Investigate lifting incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions and lessons learned.
Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and operational reliability.
Support emergency response planning associated with lifting operations.
Qualifications
- Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or a related discipline.
Recognized Appointed Person qualification (e.g., CPCS A61 Appointed Person or equivalent internationally recognized certification) preferred.
Minimum 5 years' experience in offshore lifting operations, heavy lift projects, rigging, or marine construction activities.
Demonstrated experience developing and approving complex lift plans and engineered lifting studies.
Strong understanding of offshore crane operations, rigging systems, and marine lifting challenges.
Experience working across multiple countries within the APAC region. - Preferred:
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation.
LEEA qualification or membership.
CPCS Blue Card (Appointed Person)
Experience supporting offshore renewables, decommissioning, subsea, or heavy transportation projects.
Formal training in incident investigation and risk assessment methodologies.
