Our team brings together knowledge of markets, policy, data analytics, and economics to deliver useful insights, tools, and project management support across all areas of the North American business unit. We support areas including Turbine & Service Sales, Public Affairs, Product Strategy, Supply Chain, and Operations. As a collaborative, cross-functional team, we take on the wide range of challenges and opportunities that define the clean energy market.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Overview: The Senior Specialist for Market Intelligence & Strategy is the team's lead for federal policy analysis and project management of strategic initiatives. The Senior Specialist plays a critical role in enabling Vestas AME to thoroughly understand federal policies and their impact to Vestas and the wind industry at large. The Senior Specialist is responsible for leading the broader MIS team in terms of all policy matters, including directing the work of other MIS colleagues and managing internal and external stakeholders.

 

Federal Policy: Analyze federal policy including legislation, executive orders and IRS guidelines, as well as manage external engagements with consultants and legal firms to develop a deep understanding of policies and the impacts to Vestas, our customers, and our competitors. Educate internal stakeholders on policy developments and lead cross-functional teams to activate stakeholders to develop Vestas' policy positions and react to policy outcomes. Participate on ACP and CanREA subcommittees as necessary and in collaboration with Public Affairs and Steelhead.

 

Policy Leadership: Potential to grow policy scope of the Market Intelligence team over time. Expectation is that this person will form an opinion on the policy gaps and opportunities for Vestas and help to scope potential team growth. This role has future leadership opportunities on the team for any additional policy roles that could be added. 

 

Project Management of Strategic Initiatives: Manage strategy initiatives and serve as project manager as needed. Example strategy initiatives: market share growth in the Canadian market, development of leadership offsites, contribution to AME Regional Business Plan.

 

RFP and Demand Tracking: Track RFPs issued by load serving entities to inform sales of upcoming opportunities for Vestas' customers seeking offtake. Develop presentations on RFPs including an overview of Vestas and competitors in collaboration with Value Engineering, Siting, and Transportation. Monitor overall load growth, including electrification and data center demand. Review utility Integrated Resource Plans and energy-related datasets regularly.

 

General: Serve as a go-to individual for market knowledge and analysis needs covering the U.S. and Canada. Support business development efforts through pitch deck creation, research, data analysis and customer engagements.

 

Some travel will be required, 5-10%

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or Masters-level education
  • 5 - 10 years of related professional experience.
  • Deep understanding of federal policies affecting the renewable energy sector
  • Experience in state-level policy or the regulatory environment
  • Effective communication skills with a background in speaking to broad audiences, including executives, customers, and participants at industry gatherings.

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Compelling communicator who can distill key items into clear and concise written deliverables and explain complex concepts to a wide variety of audiences. Experienced in creating compelling visualizations that can be presented in Microsoft Powerpoint. 
  • Skilled in cross-functional alignment, stakeholder, and project management. Capable of leading specialized teams / task forces. 
  • Strategic thinker who identifies gaps and opportunities for the business.
  • Functions well with minimal oversight, managing tasks and acting on business gaps and opportunities. Takes responsibility for deliverables with high quality and timeliness.
  • Works effectively across Public Affairs, Supply Chain, Sales, Product Strategy, Finance, Operations, and Global stakeholders.

 

Problem Solving and Analysis

  • Methodical, structured approach to breaking down complex questions.
  • Ability to synthesize disparate information into coherent insights.
