What Does a Production Supervisor Do? 

 

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Ensure production plans are executed efficiently and in alignment with takt time and customer commitments.
  • Make real-time operational decisions to maintain production flow and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate activities across shifts and partner with support departments to ensure operational continuity.
  • Ensure accurate production reporting and data integrity within MES and ERP systems.

 

Safety & Quality

  • Foster a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead safety initiatives, conduct audits, and address safety concerns proactively.
  • Ensure adherence to standard work processes and quality requirements.
  • Drive accountability for quality performance and support effective corrective actions when issues arise.

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop frontline employees and team leads to achieve performance goals.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations.
  • Support workforce planning, onboarding, training, and skills development.
  • Create an inclusive and positive work environment that promotes engagement, accountability, and teamwork.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Lead structured problem-solving efforts using tools such as 5-Why, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and CAPA processes.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve processes, and optimize operational performance.
  • Participate in production and operational review meetings and ensure timely execution of action plans.

 

What You Will Bring:

 

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Experience with production systems, ERP/MRP platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S principles.
  • Ability to analyze operational challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Prior experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.

Job Type: Full-time

 

Salary range: $75,000 - $100,000 a year. 

12 hour shift on a 3 day/ 4 Day Work week
