Logistics Manager

 

The Logistics Manager is responsible to direct and coordinate activities of logistics department in processing shipping and movement of turbine blades, storing, inventorying, ordering, receiving, issuing materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Supervisors to plan and direct shipping and warehouse activities.
  • Enhance factory performance metrics for supply chain: OTD, inventory reductions, and purchasing exceptions.
  • Ensure that obsolete inventory is avoided/decreased oversee that material purchases are secured for new MSI.
  • Work on cost-cutting projects with Global Procurement and other stakeholders.
  • Firefighting/QbD related to supply chain.
  • Work closely with procurement to provide/validate forecast and plan changes with suppliers.
  • Root cause analysis for materials issues/shortages.
  • Create, evaluate and track freight spend budget.
  • Implement best practices with regards to stock levels, WIP, inventory days and inventory levels.
  • Gathers, analyzes and manages shipments of blades based on production plan. Determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Assures shipping/warehouse is adhering to Safety, Quality and Delivery standards.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality and delivery.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves logistics data.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Works with Planner to ensure Internal Delivery Plan is correct and aligned with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with all departments in the factory on the inventory, material and any other needs related to plan fulfillment.
  • Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Studies records and recommends actions for non-usable and excess stock.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Communicate and ensure all shipping teams safely expedite the transport of hazardous materials and waste, from accumulation sites, to 90 day storage, within strict regulation requirements.
  • Ensure that all shipping teams inspect, weigh, load, document, transport of hazardous materials and waste through shipping and receiving documents, bill of lading, and manifests.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations for handling, storage, disposal, transport etc. of hazardous materials and waste.

Salary range - $110,000-$120,000 depending on experience.
