Vestas Factory

The HSE Manager position is part of the Vestas Windsor Blades Health, Safety and Environment team; leading HSE programs and processes for the regional Blades business responsible for the manufacture of Blades in the Vestas America Region

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and maintain Health, Safety and Environmental compliance of Vestas Blades sites through development and execution of relevant Federal and State regulatory requirements.
  • Must understand and have experience deploying programs to maintain Federal and State Environmental Compliance including but not limited to Title V, RCRA, EPCRA, SPCC, Hazardous Waste, etc.
  • Facilitate a no-harm safety culture guided by human performance principles and operational learning.
  • Facilitate HSE governance continual improvement through the development and execution of multi-year HSE strategy and tactical plan that aligns to Regional and Global plans.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Regional and Global Manufacturing and HSE business leaders.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Vestas internal Manufacturing stakeholders in Quality, Production Operations, Technical Services and Transport.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of HSE specialists and professionals.
  • Track and trend hazards and incidents to facilitate continual improvement of HSE governance.
  • Ensure adherence to Global and Regional Vestas processes related to HSE.
  • Facilitate ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standard certifications including external auditing and management system deployment and continual improvement. 
  • Facilitate execution of internal auditing and other assurance programs.
  • Facilitate operational learning of incidents (including near misses, releases, and losses) and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of HSE industry best practices and technological developments and equipment to remain up to date on related systems, devices and techniques designed to eliminate or minimize associated risks.
  • Provide support and oversight to safety training programs. Training may include strategies and goals to develop/improve safety culture, HSE technical programs/policies, injury trend data, HSE/regulatory information pertinent to the jurisdiction, workers' compensation/injury case management, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five to eight years work experience in Manufacturing or other relevant General Industry as a Health, and Safety Manager preferred.
  • Certification (CSP/CRSP/GSP/CIH/CHMM) preferred.
  • Experience in applying international HSE standards (ISO 14001, and ISO 45001)
  • Experience with General Industry requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts).
  • Computer skills necessary include Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to audit, monitor global, federal, and local standards.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and system functions, product knowledge, preferred.
  • Ability to conduct and coach on risk assessment processes, risk management, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, etc.

Competencies:

  • Manage root cause analyses and develop corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Collaborate with internal Worker's Compensation Analyst to manage workers compensation, rehabilitation, and fitness for work activities.
  • Lead and develop Operations' use of and management of events through the Vestas Incident Management System.
  • Maintain HSE documentation and records.
  • Highly developed and effective communication skills.
  • Great technical writing abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours on site.
  • Ability to travel within the Americas Region and Internationally (<10%).
  • Will be required to see and hear alarms, timers and follow verbal instructions.
  • Will be required to wear required PPE for the task i.e., safety glasses, gloves, respirator, etc.
  • Will be required to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Work Process Instructions and translate that into the ability to perform the tasks required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Salary Range $110,000 to 125,000 annually
