Technical Planner - Electrical/SCADA

Operating within the Northern & Central Europe business unit of Vestas Wind Systems A/S, Vestas Celtic Wind Technology Ltd focuses exclusively on selling, constructing and operating onshore wind power plants in UK and Ireland. With offices in Warrington and Dublin, the Service Department looks after the servicing and maintenance of over 1,560 wind turbines in UK and Ireland.

The Service department is responsible for service and maintenance of the wind farms within UK and Ireland. This is a technical role supporting SCADA operations within Celtic, based in the Warrington office (UK). The candidate will have input/support from the wider NCE SCADA group.

The role will involve:

  • Technical Support to service technicians in the field, also working closely with supervisors and other planners
  • Technical Planning of all SCADA operations within Celtic
  • Provide Training as necessary to field technicians
  • Identifying the correct paperwork/safety documentation, the correct components from technical drawings and correct tooling for the job
  • Liaising with Technical Support (DK) when required to gain further technical knowledge to help with prepping more complex jobs
  • Technically complete (TECO) service orders once they have come back from the field, assess hours taken on the job, components used and identify if further work is required
  • Attend technical courses as and when required


  • Whilst a background within SCADA systems would be ideal, we would consider a strong background within electrical commissioning or electrical installation. Your experience needs to come from a relevant heavy industry similar to the wind turbine industry
  • A strong electrical background is required, you will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of electrical systems 
  • Preferable to have come from a fault-finding (service) background, used to working with different types of troubleshooting software also
  • Previous experience working on SCADA systems or involved in the initial set up of wind farms would be an advantage


  • Excellent communication skills both remotely and on site. Comfortable dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders nationally and internationally
  • Excellent problem solving and fault-finding skills
  • A proactive approach; being self-motivated and well organised
  • Comfortable with change and new solutions
  • Independent and decisive
