Service Technician - Thurso

The Service department is responsible for service and maintenance of the wind farms within UK and Ireland. The department has an open and informal culture, where team work and good communication is the key to our achievement . Responsibilities
You will be required to develop a detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to enable you to perform daily blade repairs and other field service related tasks. Working to the highest safety and environmental standards whilst ensuring that service targets are met, you will be part of a team of blade technicians working throughout the region
As Service Technician your primary tasks will be:

  • Electrical and mechanical operations - also covering installation activities, usage of our systems like Condition Monitoring / Remote Control, creating follow-up orders. You will work with high voltage
  • Working to the highest safety and environmental standards whilst ensuring that service targets are met
  • Other responsibilities will be to carry out periodic service inspections in accordance with Vestas specifications together with component replacement (both electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) and troubleshooting on the systems

 

Qualifications

  • A proven experience record from a mechanical, electrical or hydraulics background within a similar industry 
  • Good solid evidence of problem solving and fault finding
  • Formal qualification in one or more of the above and have supported an apprenticeship
  • Previous accreditation as an AT/CT under WTSR would be advantageous
  • We are particularly looking for skills as a Senvion A/T (With Presentable Qualifications)
  • Degree within electricity/mechanics. You are also eager to develop your skills within these areas
  • HV experience is nice to have
  • As our corporate language is English, fluency in verbal and written English is required 
  • The ability to work at height and in adverse weather conditions
  • Knowledge in SAP and Power BI would be a plus
  • Good knowledge of technical drawings
  • Driver's license, class B

Additional information

This position will be located from our Service Base Thurso and working on wind farms in the region. A requirement for this position is passing an extensive health check that will be carried out during the probation period.


Travel across the UK region is expected from time-to-time. Possibly further training in Denmark may be expected.
