Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you'll find our department, Generator, as part of Powertrain Module.
Our team comprises approximately 23 skilled professionals, strategically located across our main hubs in Denmark, Germany, and Portugal. Our team plays a crucial role in harnessing the mechanical energy generated by wind turbine rotors and drivetrains, transforming it into raw electrical power.
Drawing upon a rich heritage of both in-house and externally sourced generator products, including both induction and synchronous types, we are committed to delivering solutions that offer predictable performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency to the market, outpacing our competitors. Our in-house generator production is an integral part of our development, supporting our efforts to be inventive and reach professional milestones.

Responsibilities
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the development and upkeep of new generator submodules, adhering to Vestas' project frameworks, processes, and stage gate models. Collaborating closely with project managers, technical experts, and members of the value chain, you will have an important role in promoting innovation and quality in our products.
Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting detailed product design and implementing design for manufacturing principles for generators
  • Coordinating the construction of demonstrators and prototypes in collaboration with the value chain
  • Identifying and executing corrections and enhancements during the prototype build phase
  • Providing daily technical support to internal manufacturing operations (including Quality, Production Engineering, and Global Procurement), as well as external partners
  • Planning and organizing your tasks using JIRA
  • Participating actively in cross-functional commodity teams to promote continuous improvement and innovation
  • Maintaining constructive engagement with partners at every stage of the value chain, aiming for the smooth execution of projects


Qualifications
We are seeking an ideal candidate with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electromechanical, or Machines engineering
  • Demonstrated experience of 2-3 years in product development, preferably in the realm of drive technology
  • Proficiency in navigating a global project organization
  • English language proficiency, both spoken and written. Proficiency in German is beneficial
  • Familiarity with six-sigma/system engineering tools, such as DFMEA
  • Previous work experience within a global matrix organization or the wind industry is beneficial

Your work location will be our office in Travemünde, Germany.
Up to 15 days of travel per year.
