The technical sales management department links our sales business unit and our customer needs towards the central power solutions team, responsible for the global product development in Vestas. The Technical Bid Engineer role within technical sales management is a highly diversified role that requires solid technical skills as well as a solid commercial mindset. You will work with our construction group, our customers as well as central engineering functions which requires significant communication and interfacing skills to promote regional growth in ASIA by ensuring the provide technical solutions are carried to complete the project correctly particularly in the period between Order intake to Project completion.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities as a Technical Bid Engineer (Construction) will be to ensure proper handing over happens between Sales/TBM Sales to Construction/TBM construction, timely responses to customer enquiries, monitor any deviations to tenders during project execution, lead the technical value optimization of wind farms are implemented, and guide the technical negotiations together with the Construction and customers.

 

• After an intensive induction, you will be assigned to Vestas' Sales/Construction activities mainly in the Asia Onshore markets.

• Effectively supervise the technical value engineering of customer projects and direct technical negotiations as an - essential member of the Sales/Construction team.

• Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries, prepare clarifications and deviations before sales and during execution, as well as technical annexes and contract schedules.

• Execute, monitor and ensure that the SSDA ISM are completed

• Provide type certification timing and documents to Construction teams and ensure it is delivered on time.

• Provide risk assessments to construction during execution phase

• Liaise with SME for agreement on deviations from contracted position.

• Assist with customer negotiation for deviations

• Review configuration change requests against contracted configurations (+ ISM adjustments)

• Respond to queries related to product during execution phase

• Track delivery of project ISMs and provide updates to Construction teams

• Provide clarification details on general and performance specifications

• You will need to network to build relationships with the key technical people in your internal and external customers' organization, promoting their requirements inside Vestas and ensuring they prefer to use Vestas.

• Be the link between the local Construction organization and Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) for general technical matters and with Product Strategy & Technical Sales.

• Understanding of the market, customer business cases and sales' perspective in general; track of the local rules and legislation and participating in working groups where required to define the right set of local requirements.

 

Qualifications

• Engineering background (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Renewable Energies or related) combined with commercial insight/interest or commercial background with solid interest in understanding of technical aspects

• Experience in directing technical negotiations, ideally of heavy machinery, power plant equipment or similar

• Work experience of minimum 3 years

• Previous experience in wind energy, product management, Construction support, technical sales or industrial plant environment would be beneficial

• Fluent in business English required and knowing Japanese language is beneficial.

• Ability to work cross functionally

• Holistic understanding of the commercial and legal aspects of technical solutions

• Ability to think strategically to optimize customer and company value

Additional information

Primary work location: Tokyo head office. 5 days a week.
