The Technical Sales & Project Solutions department is the arm of our Regional Technology team in Asia Pacific and China (APAC), providing the link between our sales business unit and our customer needs towards the central power solutions team, responsible for global product development in Vestas.
The Technical Bid Specialist role within Technical Sales & Project Solutions is a highly diversified role that requires strong technical skills as well as a solid commercial mindset. You will work with our commercial Sales group, our customers as well as central engineering functions, to deliver the best possible technical solutions for our customers, targeting exponential growth in the onshore and offshore wind segment.
Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as a Technical Bid Specialist will be to ensure timely and correct responses to customer enquiries, prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders, and direct technical negotiations together with the Sales team. You will:
- Take full responsibility for the technical solution during the sales phase.
- Effectively supervise the technical value engineering of customer projects and direct technical negotiations as an active member of a Sales project team.
- Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries, prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders, as well as technical annexes and contract schedules.
- Network to build relationships with the key technical stakeholders in your customers' organisations, promoting their requirements inside Vestas and ensuring a winning technical value proposition.
- Be the link between the Onshore Sales organisation and VPS (Vestas Power Solutions) on your respective project(s) and topics.
- Develop a strong understanding of the market and customer business cases, as well as project-specific and general technical market requirements.
- As a Specialist within the department, you will be expected to take on strategic initiatives, drive continuous improvements
Qualifications
- Engineering background (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related) combined with commercial insight/interest and/or energy industry project management experience.
- Experience in directing technical negotiations, ideally of wind turbines, heavy machinery, power plant equipment or similar.
- Previous experience in onshore wind energy or industrial plant environment would be beneficial
- Fluency in Japanese and business English both spoken and written would be required; additional Asian languages would be an advantage.
Competencies
- Knowledge of onshore and offshore wind market dynamics, technical solutions and customer/market requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with a variety of technical and commercial stakeholders.
- The ability to be flexible, organised and collaborative with proven experience working in dynamic and high-pressure tendering environments.
- Results-oriented, with the ability to be innovative and creative in building a technical value proposition and seeking out value optimization opportunities.
- High level of customer focus, with a holistic understanding of how technical solutions impact a business case commercially and contractually.
- Professional presentation skills with ability and confidence to present to business unit management.
