Special Projects - Project Manager

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Special projects team in the Vestas APAC region.

Special Projects is a function within Vestas Asia Pacific (APAC) Offshore Service. The Offshore Service Department is responsible for conducting all service and maintenance work for the offshore wind turbines in the Vestas portfolio.

The Special Projects team brings solutions to address situations that we may have not seen before, of large scale & complexity, high risk, high business impact.....it's the team that faces the unknown bringing structure and solutions to the situations we face. Our department proficiently undertakes projects of varying complexity, risk, and cost.

Special Projects is the department that face some of the most complex and interesting projects within Offshore Service carrying out all work in primarily three areas:

• Main Component Exchanges
• Blade Service
• Upgrades

Region APC > Service APAC > Special Projects Offshore

Responsibilities

A Project Manager, Special Projects ensures, in conjunction with the line manager, that the project is delivered on time, within budget and scope following the required safety and quality standards

A Project Manager, Special Projects ensures the project organization is staffed according to the Vestas standard project organization or as otherwise agreed with the Manager as the case may be.

A Project Manager, Special Projects actively manages relationships with all stakeholders.

• Manage and direct the project organization
• Engage the project execution team in continuous improvement
• Responsible for the day-to-day communication and alignment with stakeholders
• Ensure effective task planning and control
• Monitor progress, budget and performance on a continuous basis
• Responsible for managing the work of sub-contractors, allocating and utilizing resources in an efficient manner and maintaining a co-operative and effective team
• Report and escalate to Line Manager or Steering Group as needed
• Perform risk management
• Manage and maintain documentation and ensure all reporting requirements are met on time and to the required quality

Qualifications

• Relevant education (e.g. Engineering or Contractual background, Project Manager education or similar)
• Product understanding and awareness
• 3-5 years’ experience from similar industry and especially from large scale projects
• Knowledge about the Stage Gate model
• Risk Management skills
• Commercial acumen
• Contractual as well as technical understanding
• Awareness of cultural diversity

Primary work location: Tokyo HQ office. 5 days a week.
