The Technical Sales Management department is the regional arm of our global Technical Sales Organisation, which links our Business Unit and our customer needs towards the central Power Solutions Team, responsible for the global Product Development in Vestas. The Onshore Lead Technical bid Engineer role within Technical Sales Management is a highly diversified role that requires solid technical skills as well as a solid commercial mindset. You will work with our Sales organization, our customers as well as central engineering functions which requires good communication and interfacing skills to propel growth in the wider Asia region by ensuring the best possible technical solution for our customers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Your main responsibilities as a Lead Technical Bid Engineer within the Technical Sales Management team will be to represent the technical solution and provide support towards the sales deal team during the bidding phase as well as to the project execution team after contract award.

 

Responsibilities include:

· Responsible for the wind turbine technical solution

· Respond to queries related to wind turbine product during bidding and project execution phases

· Collaborate with cross functional members and integrate the best solution to customers

· Support product certification activities towards METI certification aligning with CLASS NK, third parties and Grid Utilities.

· Review wind turbine configuration change requests against contracted configuration

· Deliver the technical solution towards customers during project execution phase

· Work closely with key stakeholders during project execution including project management, internal engineering resources and on-site team for installation and commissioning

· Communicate with various stake holders such as customer engineers, BOP contractors, Utility engineers, local/regional administrators across engineering aspects.

 

Qualifications

Engineering background (Electrical experience preferred, alternatively Mechanical, Civil, Industrial or similar) combined with commercial insight/interest

 

Prior experience directing technical negotiations, ideally of heavy machinery, power plant equipment or similar, is necessary

· Fluent in English and Japanese both spoken and written is essential

· Ability to work collaboratively with other technical bid management colleagues, internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects milestones are met

· Holistic understanding of commercial and legal aspects of technical solutions.

· Previous experience in wind energy or industrial plant environment is beneficial

Solid communication skills and prior experience interacting with a variety of technical and commercial stakeholders

 

• Organised and collaborative with proven experience working in innovative and high-pressure tendering environments

• Results-oriented, with the ability to be innovative and creative in building a technical value proposition and seeking out value optimisation opportunities

• High level of customer focus, with a holistic understanding of how technical solutions impact a business case commercially and contractually

• Professional presentation skills with ability to present to senior management

Additional information

Primary work location: Tokyo head office. 5 days a week.
