Special Projects is a function within Vestas Asia Pacific (APAC) Offshore Service. The Offshore Service Department is responsible for conducting all service and maintenance work for the offshore wind turbines in the Vestas portfolio.

 

The Special Projects team brings solutions to address situations that we may have not seen before, of large scale & complexity, high risk, high business impact.....it's the team that faces the unknown bringing structure and solutions to the situations we face. Our department confidently undertakes projects of varying complexity, risk, and cost.

 

Special Projects is the department that face some of the most complex and interesting projects within Offshore Service carrying out all work in primarily three areas:

  • Main Component Exchanges
  • Blade Service
  • Upgrades

You will report to the Head of Offshore Service APAC, and your main role will be to direct your own department as well as collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Play an integral part in handling large commercial modifications/upgrades and projects.
  • Focus on high safety culture.
  • Energize, develop, and direct a team that ensures safe and efficient execution.
  • Drive and support improvements and changes.
  • Strategic planning and forecasting of logistics and activities, including people, tools, vessels, and components.
  • Continuous training and development of staff to ensure up to date competences.
  • Achieve effective execution in accordance with KPI's alongside.
  • Maintain control over costs which includes driving cost out initiatives.
  • Create project budgets and implement within limits.
  • Develop and maintain vessel strategy.
  • Develop and maintain processes and guidelines.
  • Steer innovation projects and improvements, initiating the right way as well as ownership to navigate them through a large organization.

 

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree within business or engineering.
  • Experience in project management or service management.
  • Senior manager level leadership including management of change.
  • Offshore experience, ideally within offshore wind.
  • Understanding of complex management setups in a large matrix organization.
  • Ability to handle large and complex projects.
  • Ability to understand and negotiation commercial contracts.
  • Solid commercial understanding, able to steer business case understanding and approval for complex solutions - ensuring momentum through a large organization.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
