Pre-assembly of offshore wind turbines aims to optimize the use of installation vessels reducing the number of lifts needed in offshore conditions and ensure the assets mechanical completion is achieved in a controlled environment. Pre-assembly of offshore wind turbines consists of mounting several towers sections at a quayside to be ready for nacelle installation, perform nacelle pre-commissioning and load-out the components to the offshore installation vessels.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise all pre-assembly activities related to assembly of tower sections and nacelles, component handling and preservation, operation method reviews, mechanical and electrical completion works, installation and termination of cables inside the towers, and preparation of offshore wind components for load-out to the feeder barge

  • Organize and coordinate the pre-assembly team, including management of subcontractors

  • Secure that NCR process are fully met and properly managed by Lead Quality Engineer and Site Technical Specialist.

  • Liaise with site planning engineer, warehouse leader and supply chain analyst to plan all activities in line with orders readiness, talent pool and material availability.

  • Engage the pre-assembly team in continuous improvement.

  • Ensure close communication and alignment with the Site Manager and Project Manager

  • Ensure pre-assembly activities completed in time to meet internal targets and key loadout dates

  • Ensure effective HSE and Quality management within the pre-assembly site

  • Monitor project progress, budget and performance

  • Ensure compliance to the contract within the Pre-assembly scope

  • Finalize and comply with the Pre-assembly Method Statement

  • Effectively resolve internal issues to ensure the project is not affected

  • Notify of incidents and accidents according to HSE procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years construction management experience, e.g. in a related energy, industrial or manufacturing setting.

  • Experience supervising a team of employees to safely carry out work on complex construction projects

  • Experience working with labor union workforce

  • Technical background, electrical, mechanical, or rotating heavy equipment; knowledge of technical drawings and schematics preferred. Ability to understand and utilize technical language.

  • Valid driver's license, passport, and ability to travel as needed to meet business outcomes

  • Skilled familiarity with power generation language and key terminology

  • Proven performance in building and developing motivated teams while achieving results through others by coaching, mentoring and target setting

  • Knowledge & understanding of heavy lifting activities and associated EHS requirements

  • Skilled experience managing Mechanical & Electrical activities

  • Familiar with OSHA and standard site safety regulations

  • Proven experience with subcontractor management

  • Demonstrated ability to set and handle large budgets and resources

  • Professional commercial and contractual understanding and understanding of financial impacts of decisions with respect to project budgets

  • Ability to build and maintain professional customer relationships and effectively negotiate with customers to resolve disputes and promote win-win solutions

  • Effective change and conflict management.

  • Proven decision-making skills with balanced risk taking

  • Function effectively in a time-sensitive setting in environments

  • Experience in working effectively with work groups across a global organization

  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office) mandatory, MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Knowledge of Planning software (Primavera Project Management or M Project). Experienced with. SAP and Salesforce.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, construction or project management or equivalent

  • Professional English communications skills (verbal, active listening, written, meeting management, presentation)
