Vestas is currently recruiting for a Project Developer to initially focus on the identification of prospective sites and negotiation of land access. This will require working with wind engineers, landowners and other stakeholders.


Sales > Development ASP > Development AU/NZ

Reporting to the Head of Development, this role will have an initial focus on identification of prospective sites and negotiation of land access. This will require working with our wind engineers, government agencies, landowners and community stakeholders.


The development group at Vestas is responsible for identifying, acquiring and developing wind farm projects. Vestas’ aim is to develop projects which will be owned by others but will be built and maintained by Vestas.


Vestas is the world's largest wind turbine vendor.   • The role will have an initial focus on identification of prospective sites and negotiation of land access.


    Responsibilities will include;

  • Project screening
  • Landowner identification and access negotiation
  • Fatal flaw/risk assessment
  • Stakeholder identification / management including agencies and community
  • Budget management at project level
  • Accountability for safety compliance at project level



  • Bachelor’s degree within a numerate discipline or Land Management


  • Previous experience within the Renewable Energy industry (Wind is highly regarded)
  • Understanding of rural landowners and land access issues
  • Professional verbal and written communication / negotiation
  • Strong relationship building skills, both internal and external including clear and confident communicator in a one to one setting
  • Able to negotiate in a non-adversarial manner
  • Resilient and able to operate independently in rural locations
  • Team orientation
  • Clear and confident communicator in a one to one setting
  • Advanced MS Office

Additional information

  • Primary work location: North Sydney, NSW, Australia
  • Frequent travel is required (rural locations)
  • Requirement to work outside of standard business hours to project needs
  • You must have the full Australian working rights to live and work in this location to apply for this position
