A key responsibility of the Market Intelligence & Strategy department is to constantly monitor and analyse the markets & business environment in which the Sales Business Unit Asia-Pacific (ASP) is operating in. 

 

The team is actively utilising its strong network of external and Vestas-internal stakeholders on both regional & global level to gather information regarding regulatory & macro-economic developments, the competitive landscape and customer activities in the key markets of India, Australia, Japan and South-East Asia. Related insights and in-depth analyses regarding trends, opportunities & threats are being provided to the Asia-Pacific management team as well as various commercial functions in the region to enable decisions & actions on a strategic, tactical as well as operational level. In this context, the Market Intelligence & Strategy functions is taking a leading role in not only setting but also deploying and implementing the regional strategy.
 
Responsibilities

  • Create an in-depth understanding of Asia-Pacific's business environment for internal stakeholders by providing high-quality analyses of markets, customers and direct competitors as well as other relevant players across the renewable energy sector
  • Conduct horizon scans and identifying key market trends, providing related reports and updates
  • Forecast key market metrics and volume drivers for Vestas' existing and future business activities
  • Act as liaison to Product Management and provide quantitative and qualitative requirements regarding the competitiveness of future offerings
  • Identify, conceive and implement new business opportunities and growth initiatives
  • Ensure alignment with and provide provide feedback to the global strategy process
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Business, Economics or Energy
  • Bachelor's or Masters in technical area with relevant commercial experience or strong commercial affinity
  • Relevant experience in quantitative and analytical work as well as ideally first exposure to energy / renewable sector from previous projects, internships or initial work experience

 
Competencies

  • Very strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Strong abstract thinking and conceptual ability together with creative thinking and solution orientation
  • Ability to work independently and self-driven (i.e. capacity to self-organise, multi-task and/or prioritise as required by business needs)
  • Team-player with ability to work in a multi-cultural context as part of a global matrix organisation
  • Effective social & communication skills for interaction with a range of internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Ideally, previous professional experience in heavy industry and/or energy sector (e. g. OEMs, Utilities, Infrastructure, Development etc.) 
  • Ideally, existing connections to or previous experience with associations, consultancies & advisors or research institutions with focus on the key markets in Asia-Pacific region (esp. India) and/or energy sector
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Power Point and Excel
  • Experience with SAP-CRM (C4C) and SAP-BI as well as data-base creation & management is an advantage

Additional information

  • Primary location will be Singapore, 10-20 hrs per week
  • Travel activity expected will be around 25% to support commercial teams across the region as well as maintain the global internal & external network.
