Region NCE > SBU NCE Service > Service Field Work South 

Vestas Service Field Supervisor is an immediate manager for a group of around 20 service technicians and responsible for carrying out the company strategy in this area. Preparing for the future as well as ensuring performance and a professional mindset in the team today are required to succeed as a leader in this role.

 

Field Supervisor has the operational responsibility for his/her area including performance and budget targets. Activities affecting the operational part of the business is the responsibility of the Field Supervisor with the goal to develop the business becoming more efficient in close cooperation with the Planner. The Field Supervisor has the people management responsibility of his/her employees. He/she is part of a group of Field Supervisors who are sharing the work of improving cross-functional collaboration and improvements in our field work.

 

A Field Supervisor is occasionally delegated tasks or projects by the Area manager. Field Supervisor position is one of the organisational leadership pipelines into Area manager position, but also prepares for leadership work elsewhere in the organisation as well.

 

The primary locations for this role will be our service warehouse in Simo, Finland.

 

Responsibilities

As a Field Supervisor you are expected to:

  • Lead the most efficient execution of the plan that was made. Setting operational expectations and creating effective routines for technicians, following up performance by assuring safety, quality and timeliness of work and reporting conducted by technicians and constantly looking for ways to optimize and improve on safety, quality and cost.
  • Be responsible for hiring of and performance discussions with technicians
  • Proactively cooperate and communicate with other stakeholders in Service North & Central Europe and externally as well as other internal departments, such as other Field Supervisors in field, planning, lean, admin, projects, PFO, technical support, Special Task and QHSE functions
  • Be loyal to decisions taken by the Company and to follow processes that are adequate for the service business
  • Have a good business sense and good economical understanding in order to drive results
  • To be an excellent people leader and motivator and to lead by delegating appropriate responsibility

 

Qualifications

People Leadership

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience leading teams of at least 10 people
  • Educational or work background that has provided readiness for working with numbers and logical problem solving
  • Comfortable with achieving and knowing how to get results through others
  • Skilled in taking the tough discussions to achieve what you expect from your team
  • Contribute to developing a learning organization

 

Business knowledge

  • Previous experience with having had own economical responsibility, such as a budget, an income target, a utilization factor etc.
  • Educational or practical background of minimum 3 years

 

Competencies

  • Ability to operationalize a strategy for your own area, to convert targets received into operational growth and work requirements for your staff as well as aligning the organization with the strategy (e.g., on cost or safety)
  • Comfortable with direction and expectation setting within Vestas quality, safety and cost goals as well as maintaining standards
  • Understanding, application ability and willingness to work with and implement in your team Continuous Improvement methodology (experience in e.g., Lean, Six Sigma or Agile)

 

Collaboration and Communication

  • You actively seek to clarify expectations and roles at your level and for the level below you. This is done to secure best performance, ownership of responsibilities and to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Breaking silo thinking makes sense to you
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and spoken English and Finnish.
