Global Development is a strategic business line that drives new growth while supporting the existing business in all development aspects. The main responsibilities of the function are to originate and develop new wind projects across the globe. Global Development pursues a variety of strategies from own development and co-development to strategic partnerships. Recent investment in renewable energy developer Sowitec manifests our partnership strategy. Sowitec specializes in project sourcing, screening & development and is Vestas’ new independent development platform primarily focusing on Latin America and parts of Europe.

The Commercial Project manager roles in Global Development involves a first rotation within Sowitec in either Germany, Mexico or Brazil. The roles entail working on new project development within Sowitec whilst also working to commercialize projects (route to market and project sale to final investor) within Global Development.


You will act as a trusted advisor and driver for both originating and executing development opportunities in the specific markets. Your first rotation will provide you with experience and a project development skillset that is transferrable globally, unique to Vestas, and essential to the development of our new business model. You are subsequently expected to take on a role in Global Development where you can put your experience and skills to the test on a regional or global level.


While working at Sowitec locations, you will be part of Vestas’ Global Development team, and you will be reporting to the country/regional head of Global Development.


The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in an international environment and navigating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business environment where creativity & tenacity is highly valued. You furthermore possess:

  • Relevant degree in business, engineering, or similar
  • +5 years of experience from a commercial position, ideally from a project development context
  • +2 years of Vestas specific experience
  • Experience with managing pipelines, prioritizing and following up leads
  • Project management experience
  • Contract negotiating skills
  • Fluency in English supplemented by fluency in German, Spanish or Portuguese

The ideal candidate has the ability to independently take initiative and strive for the best. Strong personal impact, influencing skills and ability to collaborate on many levels across the organization(s) will be essential.

The positions will be located in Mexico (Mexico City) and Brazil (Salvador)
