The Siting Solutions Department is a Technical - Sales unit support function accountable for providing fully optimized wind power plant layouts and turbine configurations which satisfy both internal requirements (lifetime, warranty, loading, safety, contribution margin maximization, .etc.) as well as external requirements (LCoE, finance-ability, customer preferences, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • The Siting Solutions team is responsible for turbine siting and optimization, representing Vestas at relevant industry conferences/workshops as well as establishing and growing strategic relationships with engineering counterparts within Vestas key customers and influential third party consultants

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors / Master degree in Physics, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Wind Power engineering (other degrees considered with experience)
  • Fluency in English
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience completing energy and suitability analysis for industrial scale wind power plants. Including experience in a sales support role

 

Competencies

  • Experience with IEC standards for wind turbine design and completion of power performance testing.
  • Experience with operational performance assessments of wind and solar power plants, using WAsP, WindPro, OpenWind, CFD or Mesoscale modelling for wind power applications and PVSyst or SolarGIS for solar power plants.
  • Demonstrated ability to analytically and methodically solve problems.
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive setting and organize priorities in a progressive/deadline-oriented environment
  • A highly motivated and autonomous who is able to work with little supervision
  • Knowledge of the various customer/market segments within South Africa, the main business case drivers for each segment, and typical strategies used by the major players in the market.
  • Established within the network of customers and consultants.
  • Experience supporting commercial negotiations
  • Comprehensive oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced organizational skills, ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience completing financial analysis of proposed wind power and ancillary systems

 

What We Offer

Technical competences development to become a functional expertise in the area of turbine siting and optimization, to interact with internal and external stakeholders to compile project data/constraints and then defines the extent of the analysis to be carried out by the Global Siting Center team. Siting Solutions engineer reviews analysis results, and directs iterations as needed to achieve an overall optimized solution in support of Vestas strategic approach to each sales opportunity.
