Vestas Southern Africa currently operates and maintains 12 operational wind farms in South Africa, with a combined installed capacity of over 900MW, and is currently recruiting for a site supervisor (on site). The wind farm is located 74 km from Laingsburg, on the Northern-Western Cape border.

 

 

Responsibilities

Delivery of services at operational level with regard to compliance with processes, quality of services, safety standards and performance

People's skills development, competencies and training are managed, including those related to safety (safety walks/talks).

Compliance with Vestas standards throughout the dedicated site and continuously implemented processes, procedures and tools

Ensure compliance with regional laws and regulations

Availability of resources to coordinate specific work requests

Day-to-day management of our collaborative staff and problem solving with the external service provider, customers and internal stakeholders

Implement processes, procedures and tools specific to the defined function

Monitoring the performance of technicians and the execution of tasks to ensure effective cost control

Approve work performed and technician timesheets

Processes technician requests for planned absence

Manage service crew composition (medium / long term)

Monitor and track site performance and continuously improve

Perform inductions for contractors

Approve working hours of the technicians and sub-contractors weekly timesheets

ED Monthly reporting/people data

Provide 1st level technical support to the technicians

Complete reports and paperwork as required by Management

 

Qualifications

• Post-Matric Engineering qualification (National higher Diploma, National Diploma, Trade Test, BTech or equivalent as a minimum),

• Minimum 3 years related work experience within wind industry.

 

Competencies

•Ability to work effectively,

•Advanced communication skills in both oral and written English; additional local language skills are a beneficial asset,

• Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office software and SAP ERP.

• Willingness to travel

• Good wind turbine technical understanding,

• Driver's license.
