Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure compliance with OHS-ACT regulations for all machinery on site.
  • Serve as the General Machinery Regulation (GMR 2.7) officer.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on equipment based on Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) standards.
  • Conduct audits, ensure compliance, and provide feedback to GMR 2.1.
  • Evaluate and optimize asset performance, reliability, and life cycle.
  • Lead talent management, including performance reviews, skills development, and employee relations.
  • Coordinate maintenance services and ensure adherence to national and international standards.
  • Promote innovation and develop cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain a zero-harm environment.

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Level C or D qualified person eligibility (General Machinery Regulations 1988).
  • Engineering or Associate degree.
  • 0-2 years' experience as an appointed person.
  • 5-10 years' experience in operations and maintenance.
  • Skilled in maintenance strategy and risk-based inspections.
  • Good performance and knowledge of management systems, SOPs, and relevant legislation.

 

Competencies

 

  • Self-motivated and able to work efficiently.
  • Strong creativity and innovation skills.
  • Knowledge of OHS Act, regulations, and HIRA.
  • High technical insight.

Additional Information

Candidates should be based in Cape Town, Hopefield, or Vredenburg. Required exams include Plant Engineering, Electrical & Mechanical, Occupational Health and Safety Act, or Law exam. The role covers both Western Cape and Northern Cape, depending on project structure and requirements.
