Power Plant Solutions LATAM is accountable for delivering grid connection and plant control solutions at Plant level (including WTGs). The department is part of Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) LATAM, which represents represents the corporate Product & Technology organization in the regional business unit of Latin America.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Identify proposal of areas for new wind or hybrid generation projects in conjunction with specialists from multidisciplinary areas (incl. wind, regulatory, GIS, commercial, environmental, social, land).

• Anticipate / be first to identify possible electrical system expansions to get insights for new grid connection opportunities.

• Develop a good understanding and close relationship with the electrical system planning body.

• Maintain a good understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to electrical system expansions and to connection application.

• Continuous monitoring and assessment of grid indicators (transmission capacity, SCR, physical availabilities, etc.) to provide accurate inputs for project development prioritization.

• Conduct load flow studies and short circuit studies to define available grid connection capacities.

• Support technical support to projects in development phase in relation to grid connection and electrical infrastructure of wind power plants:

-Identification of alternatives and selection of point of connection to the grid.

-Conception of grid connection and electrical infrastructure solution including transmission line, substation and MV grid.

-CAPEX estimation/quotation for grid connection alternatives.

-Management of internal and external consultants running electrical studies for the connection application and the electrical design of the plant.

-Management of internal and external parties designing electrical BoP for wind power plants.

• Organize and lead technical meetings with contractors, grid operators, utilities, power plant owners and energy traders.

 

Qualifications:

 

• M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems.

• Relevant work experience 5+ years from power generation and transmission systems.

• Knowledge about grid connection code requirements.

• Knowledge about substation schemes and HV/MV equipment.

• Knowledge about power system stability, control and analysis.

• Proficiency in ANAREDE and ANAFAS. ANATEM will be a positive addition.

• Familiarity with CAD software.

• Familiarity with GIS software and AI applications will be a positive factor.

• Familiarity with the Brazilian energy market's regulatory sector i.e. knowledge of scope and responsibilities of ONS, EPE, ANEEL.

• English and Portuguese languages, both written and spoken. Spanish is also valued.
