Project Development Manager - Rome
Roma, Rome, IT, 187

Vestas Development, a key business unit within Vestas Wind Systems, is dedicated to developing wind farms across the globe. We are currently looking for experienced and highly motivated Project Development Manager to join our team in Italy, contributing to the growth of renewable energy within the Vestas Development Europe Region.
Your Role
As part of our development team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing wind farm projects from early-stage development to readiness for construction.
You will manage and coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders in the preparation of environmental, technical, and financial studies required throughout project development. Your work will include reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports, Single Authorization documentation, feasibility studies, and environmental due diligence for wind projects.
You will conduct site visits alongside consultants and Vestas subject matter experts across different stages of project development, ensuring progress and quality standards are met. In addition, you will manage project budgets and execution timelines, monitoring overall progress and ensuring alignment with objectives.
A critical part of your role will involve preparing and submitting applications to relevant authorities — including EIA procedures, Single Authorization, and PAUR — ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. You will also manage relationships with authorities, support stakeholder engagement activities, and participate in public consultations as part of the permitting process.
Collaboration will be essential to your role: you will work closely with internal engineering, environmental, and financial teams to support efficient project delivery.
What We’re Looking For
You hold a degree in a scientific or technical field, such as Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline (a Bachelor’s degree is acceptable). You bring at least 10 years of experience in renewable project development, whether in wind, solar PV, or other energy sectors.
You have solid project management experience, including coordination with consultants, contractors, and internal specialists. You are comfortable preparing and managing project budgets and timelines, and you bring at least 1–2 years of GIS experience in a development context.
Advanced Italian language skills are required, as well as proficiency in English for internal documentation. You are comfortable interacting with external stakeholders and experienced in permitting processes. A willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time for site visits is required.
Your skills
You are an experienced project manager, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines. You bring effective communication and collaboration skills, enabling you to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
You are organized, solution-oriented, and forward-thinking, with a strategic mindset that allows you to identify challenges and implement effective action plans. You prioritize health and safety in all aspects of your work.
What We Offer
This role offers the chance to join a newly established Vestas business unit and help advance renewable energy initiatives.
We provide a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote, along with salary up to €60,000 gross plus bonus, depending on your experience. You will also benefit from life and medical insurance.
Joining Vestas means gaining meaningful growth opportunities with a worldwide renewable energy leader, while working with an experienced team on projects from inception to ready-to-build status.
