Environmental Specialist- Rome (IT)

Are you an environmental specialist? Are you interested in the wind energy sector?
Vestas is seeking a qualified Environmental Specialist who will manage all the environmental and stakeholder engagement aspects of the wind projects under development in EMEA/Latam Region. The specialist would be based in Rome reporting to the Head of Development Italy and working closely with the development team.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the preparation and reviewing of EIA/ESIA reports, feasibility studies, environmental Due Diligence for wind farm projects.
- Working closely with company’s technical departments (construction, transport, siting, electrical, sustainability) and managing subcontractors to ensure environmental constraints and requirements are respected during project development.
- Perform site visits at project sites for the preliminary identification of potential environmental criticalities to be managed during the development phase.
- Prepare Scope of Works for the execution of Environmental site inspections and monitoring to be carried out from third parties consultants and supervise the proper execution of the assigned activities.
- Manage public consultation with stakeholders and meeting with Authorities, when needed during the permitting phase.
- Manage permitting procedures of the projects under development (i.e. for Italy: Environmental Impact Assessment procedures, Single Authorization, PAUR..etc) and active monitoring of the regulatory framework evolution.
Qualifications
- University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental or scientific discipline (i.e. Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Geology..etc), with a focused emphasis on EIA/ESIA, natural resources management and related disciplines. Experience in Wind Projects will be an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in the delivery of EIAs and the consenting process in Italy.
- Experience in coordinating specialists of the several environmental disciplines (noise, landscape, birds and bats, archaeology...etc)
- Familiarity with international best practices of EIA Regulations (and ESIA when applicable).
- Proficient knowledge of English language (other languages would be valuable).
- Good knowledge of geographic information systems (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS). Knowledge of OpenWind software is an asset.
