Environmentally-focused EHS Specialist - Towers AME 
US, Pueblo | Professional | Full-Time

Vestas Towers in Pueblo, CO is the largest tower facility in the world, producing wind turbine towers which rise 133 meters (about 43 stories tall). In June 2017, Vestas celebrated its 5,000th tower completion at the factory - the most by a single factory ever. Those towers now support turbine power projects in nearly all fifty of the United States.

Manufacturing & Global Procurement/Assembly & Towers/ Towers Pueblo/HSE Towers

Advises the Factory Supervision and Leadership Teams in the administration of the Vestas HSE Management System.

Conducts inspections, assists in investigations and reviews of working conditions and behaviors to ensure compliance with occupational safety, health and environmental regulations.


  • Plan, develop and implement safety and health standards, criteria and guidelines, such as those issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Vestas Corporate applicable regulations.
  • Leads HSE Management System review and input to process hazard assessments and change management of policy, procedures, machines, and equipment for injury prevention
  • Maintains programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate Legal, ISO, OHSAS and Vestas Corporate compliance to established standards
  • Compiles and submits agency reports required by regulatory agencies, including Title V requirements.
  • Lead factory compliance for state and federal regulations for handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. Liaison with approved waste transporters and recyclers
  • Performs all required duties in relation to the identification, inspection and management of the waste disposal program. Assists in identifying waste streams, implementation of labeling of waste containers, and obtains labels


  • Preferred Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety & Health or Industrial Safety, or similar perspective or Seven years direct experience with training/ certifications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience with Workers Compensation, HSE, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 program management, Industrial Hygiene principles and equipment
  • Familiarity with Behavioral Safety Principles and execution
  • In depth knowledge of Root Cause Analysis methodologies


  • High-level verbal and written communication skills required within company, QSE team, stakeholders, in all levels of the organization, which may be located in different time zones and countries across the global company footprint.
  • Primarily medium manufacturing and office/ administrative office environments.  These areas have risks typically associated with manufacturing environments, including but not limited to chemical usages, machine operations, physical agents such as noise, and interaction with conveyance and transport equipment. There are occasional opportunities or needs to be physically present to conduct inspections and audits at field sites that may require driving in remote locations.

Additional Information

This position is located in Pueblo, Colorado and will require about 15% travel a year.
