Power Curve Verification Engineer

Design Centre Porto

Plant Hybrid Data & Analytics team takes part of the central hub for all the sensor data that Vestas collects from over 40000 turbines around the world, bringing it together. With data, structured analyses are performed to provide actionable insights to mature the systems and components design and optimize the performance in the field.

 

Responsibilities

Your main tasks will focus on power curve validation efforts:

  • Review power performance test plans and results
  • Encourage independent engineers to hold them accountable to performance warranties and international measurement standards
  • Participate in projects developing algorithms that eventually support visualization of data for internal and external customers
  • Provide statistical analysis with critical thinking skills that ensure scrutiny of data solutions prior to roll out
  • Be a good team player in a global environment with a geographically dispersed and multicultural team
  • Coordinate efforts with professional collaboration
  • Troubleshoot as necessary by gathering knowledge from networking with people, by being able to understand complex electrical, mechanical and software systems, with understanding organizational setups, and from results based on your complex data analysis

 

Qualifications

  • Have a relevant technical education, such as bachelor’s or master’s degree in, e.g., mechanical engineering or similar
  • Experience in the wind industry, namely in the area of wind measurements, measurement masts configuration, wind sensors, SCADA data and power curve verification testing
  • Knowledge of Measnet and IEC 61400-12-1 International standards
  • Basic understanding about turbine’s technology
  • Reasonable coding skills, mainly in R language
  • Reasonable SQL database skills
  • Speak and write English and have good communication skills, enabling the presentation and discussion of results with the stakeholders
