Converter Control HW & FW sub-module is a global and diverse team with people from different locations and develops, verifies, and maintains all software functionalities of converters for all onshore and offshore Vestas turbines. We provide the software for the first in class converter solutions of Vestas with quality meeting system and grid requirements.



  • Take ownership of the technical tasks/solutions in different projects and actively work with the converter team and other stakeholders
  • Take ownership for ensuring the product life cycle configuration from new product development to field deployment based on the development of a cross platform, converter product configuration model architecture
  • You will have the responsibility to develop and ensure automatic qualification of the system configuration
  • You will guide team members and colleagues on sub-level configurations
  • You will have software development tasks, as part of the Converter software application development team, participate in concept development, owns and guide converter software architectural design and development, deliver product configuration model, test and verification
  • You will engage in that the feedback from the field product and requirements is translated into new features, functionality development and improvements to the existing converter control software platform
  • You will participate and interact with Vestas software integration team and other stakeholders to ensure development of the embedded software
  • The responsibilities may differ due to the different nature of each projects



  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree. e.g. in Software or Electrical Engineering or other
  • Relevant working experience in embedded software and product development for systems including HW and SW interaction (e.g. State machine design, supervision, data processing, monitoring, product configuration)
  • Have good system and modular development understanding
  • Good SW architectural understanding, and able to perform new software design, development and debugging freely
  • Experienced in C and C++ and MS Visual Studio
  • Experience with Object Orient Programming
  • Experienced with software Change Management and Continuous Integration.
  • Experienced with Configuration Management Tool such as Configit is an added value
  • Knowledge of scripting language such as Python or Matlab is an added value



  • SW architectural understanding on system level
  • Highly independent and self-initiated to learn and ability to quickly understand system design and do code inspections
  • Skilled in problem-solving, analysis, and software debugging
  • Experience in defining functional specification, conduct system validation, and prepare technical documentations
  • Good communication skills both to internal team and to external stakeholders
  • Ability and experience in breaking down the tasks and estimating needed effort
  • Process oriented and have a structured way to work – being familiar with agile or Scrum process is an added value
  • Possess English skills at a high level
  • Highly collaborative and a good networker who can build, develop and maintain relationships in a culturally diverse and global environment

Additional Information

The work location will be in Porto, Portugal.

Traveling might be needed (around 25 days/year).
