Specialist, Development Analyst

The Origination Development Analyst position provides internal quantitative and qualitative analysis to support development related business decisions and growth strategy (e.g. where do we prospect for new wind projects) by combining a deep interest in energy along with an understanding of markets, policy and economics, power marketing and transaction support through complex financial modeling, economic analysis, proposal drafting, and document management across a pipeline of projects and wholesale power markets.



• Function as an internal resource for market knowledge and analysis in North America

• Quantify impact of external market factors such as economic incentives, supply chain price volatility, environmental restrictions, and federal/state/local governmental rules as it may impact company and project financials

• Support origination team in process of structuring, negotiating and closing project level transactions including Power Purchase Agreements and development asset acquisitions

• Develop, create and run offtake pricing models, coordinate model assumptions, model updates, and periodic pricing reviews.

• Review, analyze and prepare proposals for request for proposals

• Research and apply local, state and federal subsidies, incentives, and oversee the uniform implementation of such benefits within offtake contract pricing.

• Monitor regulatory matters at the ISO, utility, and state government level. Work with team members to proactively assess the risks and financial impacts resulting from future regulatory and protocol modifications

• Assist with due diligence of development project acquisitions

• Support business development efforts through pitch deck creation, research, data analysis and partner engagements



Essential Functions:

• Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms

• Ability to solve problems strategically, search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions



Education, Training, and Skills Required:

• 3-5 years’ experience in financial modeling/analytics in the renewable energy space

• Bachelor’s degree or Masters-level education

• Curiosity, passion, attention to detail, self-starter, strategic thinker, high degree of flexibly

• Ability to learn quickly with little direction with a small team that is growing fast

• Experience working in energy (wind/solar) and a basic understanding of energy markets preferred

• Solid analytical skills with knowledge of finance concepts (IRR, NPV, Payback)

• Experience with option valuation models is highly preferred (Black-Scholes, Binomial, Monte Carlo Simulation)

• Professional communication and organizational skills, oral and written, and interpersonal interaction.

• Ability to assimilate technical information and translate that into appropriate business decisions.

• Creative problem-solving ability and ability to think on one’s feet

• Evidence of solid research and technical writing experience preferred

• System skills – Microsoft Office, CRM database, GIS, etc.

• Travel may be required, roughly 15%
