Senior Project Manager, Construction

Sales / SBU AME / Project Management 

Responsibility for overall leadership, management and commercial achievement of wind turbine projects. Oversee all project execution activities from contracts are secured to full operation of the project site and handover to service. Work closely with sales during contract negotiations prior to closing contracts, and logistics, engineering, construction site management and other support functions during project execution. Is overall accountable for meeting project targets.

 

Responsibilities:

As Senior Project Manager for Construction you will

  • Take responsibility for starting up, initiating and completing projects
  • Negotiate resources and project governance with Vice Presidents/Directors from functional areas
  • Establish and maintain budgets in regards of resource needs and project cost
  • Lead and coordinate activities at a portfolio of projects
  • Cooperate with Supply Chain and Planning, to understand compliance to schedules
  • Work together with Engineering to anticipate and correct technical issues
  • Work together with Contract Specialists and Legal to ensure proper communications and Legal standing in case of deviations to the contracts
  • Initiates, plans, carries out controls and closes all activities associated with project execution.
  • Coordinates HSE efforts and functions as ambassador for an injury and incident free safety culture at the project site.
  • Identifies all scope elements and is accountable for their timely delivery; identifies opportunities for accelerating critical milestones.
  • Responsible for project execution within budget; identifies and exploits opportunities for cost savings.
  • Overall customer responsibility functions as first point of contact to customer and is responsible for a relationship based on trust and co-operation, thus increasing customer loyalty.
  • Effectively coordinates multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Effectively supervises a team of approximately 5 Project Managers, identifies key issues at specific Projects and critical aspects affecting the Portfolio
  • Represents Vestas values and advocates high standards in performance and integrity.
  • Coaches, mentors and develops project team members.
  • Organizes contractors and vendors.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors or Master's degree in Engineering combined with a commercial education or relevant commercial experience, or similar combination of skills; alternatively, 10 years effectively running Construction projects of dimensions similar to utility-scale wind projects
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience within project or technical management position
  • Proven experience in supervising teams or departments in international organizations.
