Department Description: Regulated Utility Sales 

Position is responsible for guiding Business Development across specific Development, Utility, and IPP customers. Candidate will focus on growing all business areas and maximizing the total customer share of wallet on behalf of Vestas. Individual interacts regularly with external customers and internal stakeholder functions to bring execution excellence. Requires solid commercial and financial understanding, to enhance customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and overall business growth / profitability.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development professional will direct front-end assessment of business opportunities leveraging Vestas team and its network of colleagues globally to provide sales and service solutions.
  • Tasks include building strategy to ensure Vestas meets FOI, Revenue and CM targets for all segment revenue streams.
  • Structures deals with the full breadth of Vestas in mind to understand and support the organizational linkages and impacts.
  • Accountable for product line leadership and collaborates cross-functionally with colleagues to promote successful transactions.
  • Develops sales strategy and negotiates sound business deals with customers in accordance with company standards.
  • Solid participation in marketing activities including trade show and conference attendance and product marketing development.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Economics, MBA degree preference.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in the following skill sets as they relate to Sales: technical sales, commercial customer communications, contract negotiation, or legal knowledge and has distinct expertise in at least one of these disciplines.
  • 5+ years’ experience selling power generation equipment to utilities in the wind industry or complex capital equipment sales.
  • Demonstrated achievement in the negotiation and closing of complex long-cycle larger cap-ex agreements where long-term partnering is crucial to achievement.
  • Demonstrated achievement in understanding commercial terms, and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs.
  • Understanding of how to supervise customer accounts and support team selling. Demonstrated aptitude to identify business opportunities and initiate customer contact including “cold calling.
  • Solid leadership skills; demonstrated ability in coaching, mentoring, motivating and developing employees to achieve a highly aligned, motivated and engaged team. Converts strategy into action-oriented goals and communicates the direction with enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement and quality methodology skills. Effective issue resolution and structured problem-solving methodology. Recommends and directs improvement in existing products / services to better meet customer needs.
  • Advance skills in Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Information

  • This position is located in Portland, OR. Will consider remote candidates.
  • Travel required as an essential element of job (~50%)
