Project Planner

Do you enjoy supporting the actions of those on the front lines of construction projects? Do you have experience in planning activities that are happening in the field? Vestas is looking to add a Project Planner to our Construction group supporting the project schedule.  

ABU AME / Construction / Project Planning 
The Project Planner is a critical member of the Vestas Construction department, providing project planning/scheduling and project technical configuration support from the Portland office necessary to enable Project Management Stakeholders to effectively coordinate and implement the construction of wind power plants.



  • Provide planning, resource loading, progress reporting, updated schedule and cost information and analysis of project trends in schedule, thus enabling management to make informed decisions. 
  • Provide Project Management team with analysis and recommendations to mitigate risks to the project schedule.
  • Support management with recommendations on methods and core processes.
  • Create project execution schedules (design, procurement, delivery, construction) utilizing Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Update project reporting weekly to inform stakeholders on project status.
  • Support Sales Department with pre-contract proposal schedules and ensure Primavera project schedule milestone dates are synchronized with SAP ERP system.
  • Support Project Management in reviewing project configurations and following up on site-specific configuration changes as directed by Technical Bid Managers.
  • Support site construction activities with updated construction schedules and analysis; integrate project subcontractor schedules into Primavera schedule.
  • Support each project’s construction team with setting up and organizing proprietary software application used by on-site personnel to record site progress.
  • Support roll out of Construction-specific IT systems for profitable implementation.
  • Integrate production and transportation plans into project schedules and identify risks.
  • Submit requests to Supply Chain planning to modify production plans from manufacturing warehouses to support contractual delivery requirements.


  • High School diploma or GED required.  Associate or Bachelor’s degree is a preference or equivalent experience in Construction Planning or Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience using Primavera scheduling software or equivalent program is a preference
  • Proven ability and experience in planning, logistics, and scheduling.
  • Experience in an engineering, construction or operations environment desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced PC computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of SAP desired.
  • Microsoft Sharepoint or similar web application platform experience desired



  • Ability to work with limited to no supervision. Excellent time management and organizational skills needed to ensure department goals and deliverables are met. 
  • Decision-Making:  Makes recommendations and performs work with limited supervision of Lead Planner.
  • Impact:  Major impact.  Results of this job have an effect on total business results for several months to up to 1 year.
  • Supervisory Authority:  No Supervisory authority.
  • Budget Management:  No budgetary accountability.
  • Interaction:  Regularly interacts with personnel throughout the company.
