Workplace & Collaboration - SME

The Workplace and Collaboration SME will be part of an agile product team responsible for the deployment and lifecycle management of software/applications. It shall take part in managing laptops and desktops, both physical and virtual. This includes operating, updating, and maintaining end-user PC platforms throughout their lifetime. The role also involves providing 3rd level support to assist other support functions and ensuring high-quality service delivery. 

The team is responsible for software packaging and deployment, primarily through Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) platform but not limited to it. The ideal candidate will bring a broad skill set with a specific focus on application packaging, deployment, and automation, with experience in software lifecycle management and delivery optimization, as well as PSADT technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end application packaging lifecycle (intake, packaging, validation, and release)
• Create, develop and maintain deployment scripts using standardized frameworks (e.g., PSAppDeployToolkit)
• Repackage and standardize applications (MSI/EXE) according to enterprise guidelines
• Perform testing, support QA/UAT, and ensure reliability of software deployments
• Provide high-level diagnosis and resolution of packaging and deployment issues and act as escalation point for L1, L2 and Workplace & Collaboration Engineers
• Oversees automation development with the current platforms used in the area, including Robopack and Robopatch
• Ensure applications are compatible with Modern Management solutions (e.g., Intune, MECM.)
• Deliver high-quality, unattended installations in a Modern Workplace environment
• Ensure compliance with packaging standards and deployment readiness
• Support both traditional and cloud-based application delivery models (On-prem and Intune Apps)
• Oversee migration of on-prem to cloud-based applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure application requirements are met
• Knowledgeable on management for Software Portals. (e.g. Company Portal, SWC. Etc.,)
• Knowledge in client management platforms (e.g., MECM, Intune, Citrix, AVD)
• Manage applications in task sequences for OS deployment (OSD) using MECM
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and continuously improve current scripting logic of packages
• Collaborate with architects and other SMEs to optimize software management process
• Manage initiatives to develop software management leading to automation
• Maintain documentation, user guides, and technical references
• Mentor team members and contribute to prioritization and planning with the Product Owner

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in application packaging and client management
• Demonstrated experience in process improvement and application package process automation
• Practical experience in transitioning on-prem to cloud base apps
• Solid proficiency in MECM, Intune, Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory and Entra ID
• Experience working with enterprise deployment platforms
• Advanced PowerShell scripting
• Familiarity with Agile ways of working
• Demonstrated skill in analyzing challenges and developing solutions
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work on their own and lead technical initiatives

• Application Packaging Tools: PSADT, Smart Package Studio, Robopack.
• Solid understanding of MSI/MST, EXE, Windows OS, and scripting (PowerShell).
• Extensive knowledge of packaging standards and enterprise deployment best practices.
• MECM / Intune: Application deployment, monitoring, and issue resolution fundamentals. Including Task Sequence management and configuration.
• MECM / Intune: Client management, issue resolution.
• AVD / Virtual Environment: Basic to intermediate understanding of application delivery in virtual desktop environment
• AVD/Virtual Environment: Fundamental knowledge on client management and structure of Virtual Desktop Environment.
