Responsibilities

 

The Workplace & Collaboration - Lead Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing digital productivity and collaboration solutions. This role bridges business needs and technology, ensuring secure, scalable, and innovative platforms that empower employees and align with organizational strategy. The Lead Engineer oversees portfolio management, enablement and adoption, governance and compliance, integration engineering, operations excellence, and strategy & innovation. The Lead Engineer operates within Agile Ways of Working, promoting iterative delivery, flexibility, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Sustains Technical Knowledge and Roadmaps

  • Architect and Optimize Solutions: Design, implement, and continuously enhance productivity and collaboration platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and user centric performance
  • Define Standards and Roadmaps: Establish and maintain technical roadmaps, governance frameworks, and best practices for productivity and collaboration tools
  • Promote Innovation and Transformation: Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that advance digital transformation and operational excellenc

Leadership Within the Team

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Cultivate a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning by mentoring team members and promoting professional development
  • Advanced Support and Enablement: Provide advanced technical problem-solving and deliver training programs and documentation for end users and IT staff
  • Project Management: Oversee timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of initiatives.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Automation: Manage or contribute to strategic projects, rollout plans, and automation initiatives that enhance efficiency and user experience

Leadership to Business Stakeholders

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Agile Delivery: Translate business requirements into clear, scalable, and actionable solutions. Demonstrate clear ability to manage ambiguity, uncover underlying needs, ask the right questions, and guide the development of user stories while ensuring Agile practices are consistently applied
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders and technical teams to align on priorities, clarify expectations, and ensure seamless deployment and adoption of digital productivity solutions-even in situations with incomplete information or evolving requirements
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to security policies, regulatory requirements, and data protection standards across all productivity and collaboration solutions, while helping stakeholders understand implications and make informed decision

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical architecture of and supporting Microsoft 365 or similar enterprise collaboration platforms

Technical Skills

  • Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 Services - Exchange Hybrid Environment, Teams, M365 Copilot and Copilot Agents, OneDrive, Defender, Viva, etc.
  • Proficient in automation, solution design, technical documentation, and stakeholder management
  • Experience supporting personal productivity tools such as or similar to Adobe Creative Cloud, Clipchamp, Snagit, Camtasia, Microsoft Stream, Decisions, and ThinkCell

Professional Skills

  • Effective communication, methodological, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Certifications

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, MCSA, MCSE).

  • Audit & Monitoring: Conduct regular audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to standards

Integration & Interoperability

  • Platform Integration: Design and implement integrations between digital workplace tools and enterprise systems
  • Workflow Automation: Implement workflow automation to increase efficiency and process consistency

Support & Operations

  • Service Desk & Escalation: Provide high-quality support and effective escalation management
  • Incident Management: Manage incident response and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Usage Analytics: Monitor and analyze usage data to improve service delivery

Strategy & Innovation

  • Vision & Road Mapping: Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategic roadmap for digital workplace evolution
  • Emerging Tech Exploration: Research and pilot emerging technologies to promote innovation
  • Feedback Loops: Establish mechanisms for gathering user feedback and iterating on solutions

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Technical Leadership & Solution Design: Design and implement complex digital workplace solutions, applying deep technical knowledge in architecture frameworks, cloud platforms, automation, and security. Provide advanced diagnosis and technical guidance to teams
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship to team members, promote professional development and a collaborative environment
