Are you excited about DevOps and thrive in streamlining and automating traditional "operations" type of work? Do you have experience in monitoring and improving the engagement, scaling and robustness of cloud services (IaaS/PaaS)? If you are motivated to contribute to a better future through sustainable energy solutions and deliver industry-standard cloud services, you may be the right person to join our team of highly skilled and committed people!

As an SRE/Automation Engineer, you have the vast opportunity to create a real impact working in our Cloud Services & Core Infrastructure (CSCI). Within CSCI, Vestas launches an exciting journey to gather the best cloud skills in one place, provide and operate best-practice cloud services and shape the future of our enterprise IT solutions. We seek a highly hard-working SRE/Automation Engineer who desires to contribute to this journey actively and unlock the full cloud potential for Vestas.

You will be part of the Cloud Services & Core Infrastructure department which belongs to the User Productivity & Digital foundation (UPDF) area within Global IT. We develop and deliver strategies, roadmaps, and portfolios through a business case-focused approach to ensure that cloud consumption is being moved up the stack and that Vestas is accelerating on its cloud journey.

You will start by being a part of our Kubernetes team to assist and practice Site Reliability Engineering with a focus on cloud technology.

Global IT > User Productivity & Digital Foundation > Cloud Services & Core Infrastructure

Responsibilities

In your position as an SRE/Automation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to:

  • Work towards automation and streamlining of "traditional" operations type of work (in collaboration with DevOps teams and business projects)
  • Monitor and improve the engagement, scaling and robustness of cloud services (IaaS/PaaS)
  • CI/CD orchestration, allowing Vestas DevOps teams to focus on delivery (e.g. automatically build commits, run tests, deploy to environments)
  • Perform and automate service orchestration (e.g. patching, monitoring, logging, etc)
  • Provide feedback regarding development or engineering methodologies, standards and established practices
  • Maintain and spread the DevOps culture and ways of working across Vestas

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role or operating experience in Cloud Services in a DevOps team
  • Comfortable with a range of programming languages and technologies (e.g. Terraform, ARM-template, cloud-native stack, Kafka, Containers/Kubernetes and YAML)
  • Solid experience working within at least one of the main cloud service providers (e.g. Azure or AWS)
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies & demonstrated DevOps skills
  • Experience with agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban or SAFe
  • Coding/scripting knowledge for automation of infrastructure provisioning

Competencies

Working in our Cloud Capability Center naturally requires a solid technical understanding of the cloud. However, a good understanding of on-premise data center technologies is also beneficial as many cloud workloads are and will continue to be hybrid in nature and integrate with on-premise solutions. On a personal level, we expect that you have/are:

  • An open-minded and curious person with good communication skills combined with an innovative and problem-solving approach to implementing tasks
  • Aspiration to learn and ability to work with no supervision, efficiently and with persistence
  • Good cooperative skills suitable for a global organization with personal, professional and cultural diversity
  • Ability to take ownership and effectively engage in continuous improvements within a broader perspective
  • A team-oriented person who shows a focused approach to the tasks at hand and wants to contribute to the expected success of the team
