Core Infrastructure & Network is part of Digital Technology Solutions reporting to the CIO of Vestas, where we are end-to-end responsible for the full stack Enterprise Network, from Global Access overall Network Security services to Data Center and Cloud Networking. We develop, deliver, and own strategies, roadmaps, governance, and day-to-day operations, all determined by business demands and technology expertise.

As a Network Operations Engineer, you'll combine your expert Network Engineering capabilities with comprehensive Operations Governance insight working hands-on as well as guiding and mentoring your colleagues in the Operations team.

We work in agile products staffed from functional Chapters where employees are hired among equals. As Network Access Operations Chapter Lead, you'll have a combined role growing, coaching, and developing your colleague Operations Engineers and in parallel fully engage in Network Engineering tasks (project implementation, request handling, and incident handling).

 

Responsibilities

  • The Chapter Lead is a regular manager role for 9-12 highly skilled employees running our day-to-day Network Access Operations, where you are responsible for everything from various managerial controlling and approval tasks, over daily leadership and coaching to the full yearly leadership wheel with training, salary, development, recruiting, etc. One of the first tasks will be staffing your team
  • We operate a global infrastructure supporting and protecting some 50.000 users, 30 big-scale factories, 3 R&D centers, 3 data centers, 10.000 service technicians on the road, etc. Our network, its stability and performance, delivers critical infrastructure services as well as the digitalization foundation. We understand and embrace the criticality and our attitude and values reflect this
  • As a Network Engineer, you engage in building and implementing our platforms and services, either determined by large initiatives or service requests from our business, as well as handling day-to-day incidents of various criticality. You are expected to engage in service and platform development and continuously deliver governance improvements where needed

 

Qualifications

Leadership experience and documented training are of course advantageous, but a commitment to support and promote growth through others combined with positive feedback on leadership potential from stakeholders and colleagues can qualify. Besides;

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, engineering, science, or related
  • Relevant expert Networking Certifications or software development certifications as an alternative to formal education
  • You hold years of experience working as a Network Engineer on a senior level and can document your seniority through cases from your career
  • Our Access Network infrastructure is primarily Cisco-based; the Lan side is C92XX, C93XX, C95XX, and the core side infrastructure is ISR1K and ISR4K. We run a global and well-planned Wi-Fi network based on C916x APs and C9800 WLCs. Expertise operating some of these platforms is expected
  • Our Telephony platform is Cisco Unified Communication based on the UCCX platform. Experience working with (and integration of) UCCX is advantageous
  • Experience working with large global networks and governance models is expected
