CPX Technical Supervisor

General Purpose:

The CPX Technical Supervisor serves as a key member of the site leadership team and functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Vestas wind turbine installation and commissioning activities. Working in partnership with the Vestas Construction Manager, Customer representatives, and BOP installation contractors, this role provides technical guidance, field support, procedural clarification, and troubleshooting expertise to help ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Vestas procedures and quality standards.
 Responsibilities:

•    Provide technical leadership and support for turbine installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning activities throughout project execution.
•    Serve as the primary technical interface between Vestas and customer representatives during project execution.•    Communicate project status, schedules, technical specifications, quality concerns, and operational risks through meetings, emails, phone calls, text messaging, and formal Requests for Information (RFI).
•    Maintain working knowledge of Turbine Supply Agreements (TSA), project contracts, and commercial obligations.
•    Support Contract Specialists, Project Managers, and Project Controls personnel by identifying technical or schedule-related commercial risks.
•    Develop and adjust manpower plans based on changing project schedules, weather conditions, staffing challenges, and construction priorities.
•    Coordinate technician staffing requirements with Resource Managers and regional leadership.
•    Provide feedback regarding technician performance, training needs, qualifications, and developmental opportunities.
•    Prioritize personnel safety above equipment, schedule, and production objectives.
•    Serve as Site Energy Control Coordinator (ECC) or delegate ECC responsibilities as required.
•    Evaluate worksite conditions and stop work activities when safety, quality, or procedural compliance concerns are identified.
•    Support site leadership in planning, coordination, risk mitigation, and execution strategy development.
•    Read, interpret, and implement Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) requirements, Technical Notices, CIM communications, and project-specific directives.
•    Coordinate with SCADA specialists, plant network engineers, and customer substation personnel throughout substation commissioning activities.
•    Support installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of VOB and PPC systems within the control house.
•    Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, controls, and software-related issues during installation and commissioning.
•    Conduct mechanical completion inspections, mechanical walkdowns, and quality verification activities.
 
 Essential Functions:

•    Serve as the highest-level onsite technical resource for turbine installation and commissioning activities.
•    Plan, coordinate, and manage day-to-day work assignments for onsite Vestas technicians.•    Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed in accordance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
•    Maintain the ability to perform all technician tasks when project conditions require direct field support.

 
Education, Training, and Skills Required:

•    High school diploma or equivalent
•    Minimum four (4) years technical wind industry experience, OR six (6) months technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a Wind Technician program, AND in absence of technical wind industry experience, minimum three (3) years’ experience working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical skills and/or composite skills•    Proven Leadership abilities with a strong Technical, Safety and Quality focus.
•    Demonstrated use and understanding of intermediate level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque and diagnostic tools (e.g. fluke meter functions and hydraulic pressure gauge).  
•    Ability to demonstrate intermediate working knowledge of industrial safety practices / protocols (e.g. Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out).
•    Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Passport.
•    Strong attention to detail and execution excellence.
•    Good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
•    Able to effectively collaborate with employees at all professional levels and ability to respectfully follow supervision and support initiatives.
•    Proficient computer operation skills, familiarity with internet based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data. (SAP, Procore, Salesforce, CAD)
•    High Ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to validate work activity and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated. Ability to transfer this knowledge to on site teams performing works in WTGs.
•    Ability to demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with Vestas WTG’s and hold a Vestas Technician Level 3 designation or equivalent

Employees must meet and comply with requirements and limitations of relevant PPE and safety equipment as well as demonstrate the following:
•    Ability to constantly climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height, in order to access work area.
•    Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight.•    Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend.
•    Ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts.
•    Comfort constantly working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters.
•    Ability to successfully participate in all training courses, including controlled decent.
•    Ability to hear and see, including the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colors, sufficient to perform job functions and use close range radios.
•    Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.
•    Comfort working remotely in a Turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction.
•    Ability to work in a respirator, including passing a respirator medical evaluation and fit test (required to be clean shaven) as some assignments may require respirator use. 

It is an essential function of your Technician position that you climb and work in the turbines. Therefore, in order to perform your position safely, your total weight, while wearing all required PPE and gear, must be at or less than the 300.0 lbs. weight limit.
