Power Solutions > Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Blades Module > Blades Materials
The Blade Materials team under Vestas Technology, Blades Module is looking for a number of experienced materials engineers involved in the development of wind turbine blades. The knowledge in this multi-cultural team ranges from: carbon and glass fiber, electrical components, foam core, coatings, precured components, adhesives, resins and metallic components through various manufacturing technologies. This team of highly motivated engineers work to create the most cost-effective and sustainable material solutions for the demands of the wind turbine industry. Joining this team offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to shape the wind turbine blades of the future.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and specifying material requirements to meet design, manufacturing, and commercial needs
  • Development of innovative materials solutions, internally and with suppliers, to improve blade performance, reliability, sustainability, and cost
  • Qualification and approval of materials systems for blade projects
  • Material characterization and analysis of test and validation data, including running trials in production environment
  • Representing technology in Material Sourcing Teams
  • Taking responsibility and ownership within his/her area for current and future technologies/strategy

 

Qualifications

  • Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical or Materials) or Chemistry degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, Meng, PhD)
  • Experience in delivering into projects and task planning
  • Experience in identifying material requirements, material specifications, test methods and characterization techniques
  • Commercial experience, especially working with stakeholders from wide background and external suppliers is an advantage
  • Knowledge of composite materials and their manufacturing technologies
  • Knowledge of wind turbine blade manufacturing technologies is desirable
  • Lab experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Green Belt trained desirabl
  • We have a number of positions available in this team so our expectation is that you would be an experienced engineer with knowledge of at least one of these areas: carbon and glass fiber, electrical components, foam core, coatings, precured components, adhesives, resins and metallic components

This position requires approximately 5-25 travel days per year.
