Vestas Wind have released a new position for an enthusiastic and experienced Transport Costing Lead to join our collaborative team in Melbourne.

 

The ANZ portfolio planning team is a function within the Supply Chain and Transport department located in the Asia Pacific Region. The team is responsible for the supply chain and transport planning and budgeting of Vestas projects working closely with internal stakeholders; sales, construction, global/regional planning and technical management. As well as external stakeholders; clients, subcontractors, government departments and local councils.

 

As our newest team member, you will be managing the end-to-end transportation budgets and offer packages during the sales phase, working closely with regional procurement, global vessel planning team, carriers and the portfolio planning team. Further supporting transport execution by overseeing the cost to complete reporting and pre-post cost analysis.

You will have a high degree of stakeholder interaction; engaging daily with key sub-regional departments; sales operations, bid management, procurement, construction and transport outbound.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare and manage transportation budgets during sales phase
  • Liaise with global vessel planning team and carriers to prepare ocean offers
  • Cost to complete reporting and pre-post execution cost analysis, working closely with project cost controllers and outbound transport team
  • Coordination of transport input for RFQ packs for release to subcontractors and evaluate tender submissions with procurement, transport and construction
  • Sales governance support for management sign off and coordinate binding offer packages
  • Supporting transport and portfolio planning with cost analysis
  • Awareness of transport solutions from factory to site to support budgeting 
  • Manage risk/opportunities in budget (ARM process)
  • Streamline budgeting and drive uniform reporting across departments for transport
  • Coordination with various subject matter experts both internal and external stakeholders to support project optimization
  • Ad hoc support of transport planning including transport study reviews, port capability assessment and more

 

Qualifications

 

  •  Bachelor's degree in finance, business, logistics, supply chain management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in financial planning. 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly

 

Competencies

 

  • Analytical skills and good business understanding with demonstrated and advanced knowledge of budgeting and cost control.
  • Knowledge of TMS systems (ITM) Preferred
  • Knowledge of cargo moves, both intermodal, vessel, and trucking
  • Awareness of Wind turbine transportation / OSOM movements (Desirable)
  • Experience in the Construction industry and Renewables sector (desirable) 
  • Suitable software skills (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Attention to detail and Problem solving skills
  • High degree of stakeholder interaction (both internal and external)
  • Awareness of commercial contract items 
  • Ability to self-manage as well as coordinate efforts of cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication
