Vestas Development (part of the Vestas Wind Systems A/S group) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated real estate lawyer with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience to join our dynamic team in Melbourne.
Your previous experience in real estate law (focusing on the energy and infrastructure sectors) will be integral to Vestas’ success in our current projects. You will work across a portfolio of projects at varied stages of the development lifecycle, from initial planning to final negotiation and drafting. This is an exciting and everchanging role where priorities are continuously moving, giving you the opportunity every day to attack things with a new approach.

This role is integral to supporting the legal function of a leading wind farm development company. You will liaise with many internal departments along with regional stakeholders and as the successful candidate you will have a great capability to build relationships and be energized by collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in drafting, negotiating and advising on real estate matters relating to wind farm development projects, including land acquisition, leasing, access rights, easements, and property due diligence.
- Support the business with preparing and finalizing a variety of agreements to progress development activities, including procurement contracts, non-disclosure agreements and other related items.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team while also managing tasks and matters independently.
- Advise on Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) requirements in the context of real estate agreements in Australia.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and internal governance processes.
- Support project teams with strategic legal input throughout the development lifecycle of a wind farm.
Qualifications
- Australian-qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 years post-admission experience.
- Strong background in real estate law, particularly in large-scale or complex projects.
Competencies
- Real estate experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or other major project developments.
- Exposure to land access negotiations and interacting with landowners.
- Experience coordinating external legal advisers and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Understanding of planning, environmental, and native title considerations relevant to project development (not essential but advantageous).
- Familiarity with FIRB requirements and processes as they apply to real estate transactions and agreements in Australia.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and commercial acumen.
