The Grid team manages all grid aspects during the sales/ construction/ service phases of the projects across Asia pacific focusing in Australia and New Zealand.

Working with a team of engineering professionals across the region working closely with other cross-functional teams delivering competitive and compliant grid solutions. The role will encompass technical and resource management throughout the construction phase, managing the grid compliance and balance of plant processes on multiple projects

Responsibilities

• Prepare project specific grid compliance test plan noting the requirements, and with an understanding of plant limitations. 
• Prepare test schedules for the different grid compliance testing activities with consideration to the project schedules.
• Prepare site specific functional design specification for the park level controller and wind turbine generators based on the computer models, and the agreed generator performance standards. 
• Coordinate with the NSP/TSO and undertake generator performance standards compliance testing, and model validation (R2) testing whilst liaising with site based personnel and operators (NSP/TSO/Customer).
• Support power system studies to define the wind farm generator performance standards and to develop site specific requirements . 
• Coordinate activities with the internal stakeholders on modelling and study aspects.
• Ensure high quality grid connection deliverables required to be submitted by Vestas are submitted on time.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure grid connection/compliance issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Engage and manage power systems engineering consultancies when required.
• Discuss with internal stakeholders and prepare formal responses to inquiries regarding wind farm technical performance. 
• Attend and provide input to various safety, design, technical and risk meetings, workshops and reviews;
• Assess Variations, Requests for Information (RFIs) and payment claims
• Review tender specifications.
• Support Electrical Engineer in their day to day work with grid compliance aspectsation (RFIs) and payment claims
• Review tender specifications.

 

Qualifications

•  Engineering degree in Electrical or Power Systems
•  5+ years of experience in power systems operations, grid compliance/electrical testing or power system analysis.

 

Competencies

•  Ability to engage and manage consultants in a construction environment - tier one company experience valued.
• Experience in review of grid connection compliance design in a construction environment.
• Any grid connection experience, especially wind farm registration will be highly valued.
• Generator and power systems modelling - wind farm modelling highly valued.
• Experience using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory simulation tools desirable.
• Substation electrical design well regarded.
• Any experience in negotiation with major stakeholders, such as clients, consultants, contractors and authorities.
• Experience working in high pressure environment
