Vestas, the world leader in renewable energy has made the decision to add new projects to its wind development portfolio in Australia, and as a result, is seeking a skilled Development Manager based in Queensland to join the team as we secure suitable sites to feed into our development pipeline.


As a Development Manager for Queensland, you will be identifying and securing a portfolio of greenfield wind development projects. This will involve developing and implementing a strategy to de-risk and commercialise projects. You will be aided by Vestas proprietary project screening tools and Vestas’ considerable experience in delivering wind power projects in Australia.

  • Develop a pipeline of greenfield wind energy projects across Queensland
  • De-risk key elements of the projects
  • Work with the State Government to identify market trends and opportunities to expand our portfolio
  • Effectively identifying development and investment opportunities in Queensland
  • Investigate existing and potential future opportunities for commercialisation of wind energy projects in Queensland
  • Leveraging the Vestas organisation to propel development goals
  • Coordinate permitting and approvals process
  • Contribute to the land access strategy including negotiating and securing easements and options to lease
  • Guide connection application and connection agreement processes and negotiations




  • Bachelor's Degree in either Economics, Business, Commerce, or similar




  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in infrastructure development in Queensland
  • Experience dealing with the Queensland Government on major projects
  • Proven experience handling and delivering environmental approvals for major projects
  • Proven experience guiding connection application and grid study processes
  • Relationships with key stakeholders at Powerlink
  • Experience in developing Wind and PV solar plants
  • Significant experience effectively handling internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly skilled in negotiating project scope, cost, schedule, and risk with contractors
  • Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment as well as work autonomously
  • Good commercial insight

  • Note this will be a home based role within Queensland with approx 25% domestic travel
