The Contracts team collaborates intimately with the Construction team, Legal, Procurement, and other key stakeholders to safeguard the commercial and contractual interests of the Company. The department is tasked with devising and enacting contract management and administration procedures that adhere to company policy, as well as contributing to or shaping these policies.

 

Responsibilities

 

  •  Monitor the Subcontractor's Rate of Progress based on the approved Baseline Schedule and coordinate with the Construction team the review of variations and delay claims made by Subcontractors.
  •  Drafting of letters to Subcontractors in due time if the Rate of Progress is behind the agreed Baseline Schedule in coordination with the Contracts Manager and the Construction team.
  •  Providing ongoing commercial support - ensuring that suppliers, vendors and subcontractors of the project are adhering to the terms and conditions under which they were engaged.
  • Operate and maintain commercial and contract systems including Variation Registers, Delay Notices & Extension of Time (EOT) Claim Registers, Risk Registers, Rights and Obligations Summary of all Subcontractors and Clients/Principals, and Clients and Subcontractors' Insurances and Bonds Registers.
  • They were ensuring that the Client and Subcontractors' bonds and insurances comply with contractual requirements. 
  •  Support in dispute resolution processes as required.
  • Review Baseline documents and coordinate with the construction team on site as to the validity of variations, both upstream and downstream, if not part of the original scope of work.
  •  Drafting and review of EOT entitlements by the contract, in coordination with the Construction team.
  • Efficient and timely management of contractual issues and issuance of contractual correspondences.
  •  Assist in monitoring the upstream contract Baseline Schedule and capture all delays and possible prevention of the Client/Principal to commence work.
  •  Assist the Construction team with the review of monthly Requests for Payment made by Subcontractors. Ensure timely issuance of Payment Certificates and overall contractual compliance regarding payment procedures. 
  •  Involvement in the negotiation of new upstream and downstream contracts for upcoming projects and providing advice to the Legal and Procurement teams from a contracts management perspective.

 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Substantial hands-on contracts administration experience within the construction industry (civil/infrastructure, renewable energy, oil and gas - EPC/EPCM desirable) within a project environment.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in similar industries
  • Degree in Engineering/ Legal

 

Competencies

 

  •  Solid contracts experience within the construction industry (civil/infrastructure, renewable energy, oil and gas - EPC/EPCM desirable) within a project environment.
  •  Experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor is preferred but not essential.
    Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word (Primavera or Microsoft Project experience would be beneficial but not mandatory).
  •  High level of contractual awareness, and communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to effectively communicate and work with different teams on Project matters.
  •  Able to demonstrate commitment to safety, teamwork and building strong working relationships.
  •  Knowledge in Construction/Contract Law.
  •  Ability to properly draft contractual letters.
