Contract Manager

The Contracts Manager is a construction role which sits in the Contracts Management department within the broader Customer Project Execution (CPX) team. The CPX team is responsible for the construction of wind farms, from producing proposals for developers through to hand over to the Service organisation.
Working collaboratively in a matrix structure with the Construction, Legal and Procurement teams, as well as with other relevant stakeholders including the Client/Principal and Subcontractors, the Contracts Manager works to preserve the commercial interest of Vestas while ensuring contractual compliance.
The purpose of the role is to drive, protect and enhance Vestas' commercial and contractual position on projects under construction, both upstream and downstream. This is achieved through applying Vestas' procedures and processes to the administration of contracts at hand and utilizing contractual knowledge and expertise to develop and implement claim and dispute strategies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop variation and claim strategies
- Develop, review and negotiate variations and cost/time claims
- Prepare and develop strategies to respond to claims and variations
- Manage securities and insurances along with insurance claims
- Drafting/reviewing contractual correspondence
- Reviewing payment claim submissions
- Develop and review subcontract packages in collaboration with Procurement
- Attend project meetings
- Drive the lessons learned process to improve Vestas' position on projects under negotiation and to further develop contract administration process and procedures
- Manage external consultants when engaged for contractual assistance
- Active participation in dispute avoidance/resolution strategies
Qualifications
We are looking for a person with qualifications and experience that align with the below. We are open to receiving applications from candidates who may not meet all criteria but can demonstrate extensive relevant experience.
- Minimum degree qualified in technical, legal or financial field
- Experience of or qualifications in Contract Law
- 8+ years of experience managing contracts within construction, preferably including large scale EPC within energy
- Wind industry experience
Competencies
- Primavera or Microsoft Project experience would be beneficial but not mandatory, as would experience with Procore
- Strong health and safety mindset
- Able to collaborate across cultures fostering a supportive team environment
- Passion for large-scale renewable energy projects
- Strategic focus with commercial understanding
- Ability to find simplicity in the midst of complexity
