Vestas have released a new position for an experienced and enthusiastic Blade Specialist to collaborate with our extended blade services and operations teams.

Regional Operations Team APAC > Operations Engineering APAC > Blades ASP

 

The Operations Engineering department supports all three pillars of Vestas service: Onshore, Offshore and Multi-brand as required, along with Installation Project support.

We provide technical support to Projects, Service sales, and the Service contract managers (including direct customer support) throughout the Wind Farm Life Cycle.

 

The Blade Specialist function reports into the Blade Manager APAC, providing Tier 2 (regional) support for Blade Module Technical queries and escalations for Tier 3 (Country) escalations, forming a seamless link with Tier 1 (CIM/VPS) to ensure timely conclusion to support requests.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical mentorship to Blade support team in APAC. 
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis workshops. 
  • Technical writing for Customer Memorandums, Technical reports, case studies and business case development. 
  • Review and approval of technical documents. 
  • Severity assessment of Blade damages and mitigation actions to ensure safe and reliable operation of the blades under service in Vestas. 
  • On-site assessment of Blade damages and reporting of these internally and externally. 
  • Leading customer and insurance call for Technical Blade related matters. 
  • Project support on tools and generation of non-standard repair methods development. 
  • Ongoing open collaboration with Global Engineering, CIM & VPS. 
  • Maintains safe and healthy environment by following organization standards and legal regulations, with a focus on reducing costs of energy production

 

Qualifications

  • Engineering background (M.Sc. or higher) 
  • Significant Blade industry experience (10+ years)
  • Vestas Experience high desired

 

Competencies

  • Advanced level technical understanding of Blade Design, Manufacturing and Field repair and upgrade methods
  • Knowledge of Lightning Protection systems, CMS systems and other auxiliary blade systems is an advantage 
  • Engage in HSE management and be fully safety focused
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and understanding of technical sales is desirable
  • Strong people skills, and natural ability to convey complex problems in a pragmatic and accessible manner to all levels (internal and external) of business
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Highly analytical, with good overview and planning skills
  • Utilize strong creative thinking to assist in with process improvement areas & develop processes, tools, and methods accordingly
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and able to adapt quickly to business challenges
  • Comfortable working remotely, as the department is physically located in multiple locations
