Vestas Development is a relatively new strategic business line established to bring new profitable growth while supporting the existing business in all development aspects. The function's main responsibilities are to originate and develop new wind and hybrid projects across the globe. Being an independent business unit, Vestas Development develops project through own resources as well as via development partnerships that are established and handled by the group. The team is engaged both in Mergers and Acquisitions transactions and organic growth, subject to market specific strategies and opportunities globally.

You will take up a key role in the department's activities in the region, being responsible for the project management and execution of all phases of project development of wind and hybrid projects across the Nordic region, with primary and initial focus in Sweden, however with an aspiration to expand into more Nordic countries in the long term. You will be responsible for engaging and handling relationships with landowners, authorities, consultants, and other stakeholders to secure necessary land rights, community support and permits for the projects to achieve operational status. Sustainability is at the core of our business, and we expect you to have this as a corner stone for everything you do.

You will report to the Vestas Development Country Lead in the Nordic region, and you will have an innovative role in a growing team to act as a trusted advisor and driver for both creating new opportunities and carrying out development activities.



  • You will be highly enegaged with landowner, municipality and subcontractor for sourcing, documentations and negotiaitns required
  • Screen for new potential project sites, perform required studies, compile reports and make recommendations for appropriate development activities 
  • Define, monitor and report on the project development plans and budgets, ensuring cost control and progress in line with approved time schedules and budget
  • Ensure appropriate reporting and documentation of the projects and full transparency to internal stakeholders



  • Solid experience with project management and project development within wind, energy, telecom, infrastructure or similar
  • An education at university level within business or engineering (preferably Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical or other relevant direction)
  • Experience with seeking environmental permits for similar projects
  • Experienced in Microsoft office tools is required. ERP software (e.g. SAP) and Project management tools (e.g Primavera) is a benefit but not a prerequisite
  • Swedish and English at negotiation level. Other languages (e.g. Norwegian or Finnish) are an absolute advantage



  • A great team member with a strong interpersonal skills and sense of team spirit - project development is a team sport
  • Solid business insight and understanding of key risks and value drivers associated with wind farm development 
  • Able to maintain and present an overview when needed, but expected to be detail-oriented and in control of all aspects of the projects
  • Structured and organised - capable of handling all phases of project development and continuously evaluate progress and risks in comparison to plans and budget
  • Capable of combining entrepreneurial mindset and adherence to processes and best practice procedures
  • Being able to articulate and present the key elements of the projects to both internal and external stakeholders, incl Vestas' Executive Management

Additional information

Your primary work location will be our office in Malmö, Sweden.


You can expect 20 to 40 days of travel days per year.
