Do you have experience as a legal advisor and are you involved in renewable energy?

We are seeking a Legal Counsel that is committed to supporting our global efforts to shape the world's energy future and contribute to our shared goal of accelerating the global transition to renewable energy. As Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal support for the EMEA division of Vestas' Global Development team, with a focus on several European markets (e.g. Spain, UK, Ireland, Poland, Bulgaria etc).

 

Responsibilities:

This is an international role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with an entrepreneurial and fast-growing project development team in EMEA, to support all stages of a renewable energy project development lifecycle - including due diligence, permitting, land acquisition campaigns, procurement, interconnection, offtake, acquisitions, joint ventures, sale and disputes across the EMEA region. This includes:

 

- Provide legal support related to Wind Farm Development including energy regulatory laws, permits, property law, connection agreements and similar project agreements including but not limited to the following:

  • Support the Development Team in reviewing a country's regulatory regime
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts incl. Land Lease contracts related to wind turbines, Electrical Substation, Electrical Cables, Transmission Line, Met Mast installation, Lidar deployment, agreements related to grid connection, service, procurement of goods and/or services.
  • Legal review of permits application, expropriation's decrees and concessions requests.
  • Review of Resolutions issued for Renewable Energy Projects with potential impacts on Vestas' portfolio.
  • Corporate Housekeeping

- Support potential acquisition, co-development opportunities or divestments through preparation and legal revision of Share Purchase Agreements, Development Service Agreements, Shareholder Agreements etc.

- Engage and manage external lawyers across a wide range of practice areas

- Identifying and managing project risks and liability issues and communicates them to the appropriate members and bodies within the organization for decision-making.

- Ability to work on a varied and broad range of transaction documents in compliance with company guidelines and preferences, in each case while being encouraged to participate in and contribute to strategic initiatives to further business goals.

- Strive for constant improvement and advancement of best practice through development and implementation of systems, processes, guidelines and forms to create efficiencies and lay groundwork for future growth of the business.

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Law
  • At least 5 years of experience practicing law in the renewable energy industry, real estate, and regulatory and permitting activities matured within Renewables Energy operators or Private Practice
  • Languages: Spanish and English at professional level.
  • Flexibility to travel, based on company needs and goals: about 20 days per year.
