Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you'll find our department, Shell, Web & Components, as part of Aerodynamic & Mechanical.
Our departments supports both new process development, technology projects and CIM cases in the Blade module. Our department is accountable for the blade design and process elements having the right TRL & MRL maturity. It is also responsible for the manufacturing process design and development of wind turbine blades. The team is made up of enthusiastic employees located in Chennai - India, Lem - Denmark, Isle of Wight - UK and in Porto - Portugal.
This is an exciting position involving travel to Vestas blades manufacturing facilities around the world working on existing products but also participating in development projects.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility in this role is to design optimized composite components that can be robustly manufactured. Apart from that your responsibilities include.
- Design for manufacture of large-scale composite components using CATIA composite V5 (solid GSD, creating IMLs, ply splicing, producibility, flat patterns, laser projection)
- Develop and maintain FMEAs to ensure robust and efficient design. Utilize Six Sigma methodology to reduce process variation and enhance process controls
- Drive the integration of elements into new blade designs. Increase the design/process maturity of new blade elements across the full value chain
- Creation of Manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOM). Ply-books and drawings
- Support early prototypes builds and carry out design/process verification activities to ensure the intent is met. Define specifications across design, process, and tooling functions
- Creating engineering request and changes via the Engineering Change Management system - ECM (Windchill). Compile requirements and stakeholder feedback to develop, down select and de-risk component design
- Provide supplier support, both internal and external
Qualifications
Your qualifications include:
- A bachelor or master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, coupled with practical knowledge of composite manufacturing e.g. infusion technology, component assembly
- Experience within blade design, design for manufacturing, and have solid practice experience with CATIA composite V5
- Experience with running optimization and process development projects in manufacturing environments
- Experience with statistical data & tolerance analysis
- Experience in coordinating FMEAs
- Good communication skills in English, orally and written

Your work location will be our office in Lem, Denmark.
Up to 90 travel days per year.
