Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is the integrated CTO and COO organization within Vestas, covering the full industrial value chain, from Research & Development, Procurement, and Manufacturing to Supply Chain and Quality. VTO's mission is to transform how Vestas engineers, sources, contracts, manufactures, and delivers its products in order to consistently meet the highest standards of quality, cost efficiency, and time-to-market.

The Product Applications and Controls R&D (PAC) organization consists of skilled designers, engineers, and project managers located primarily in Denmark, Portugal, and India. Together, they bring diverse technical knowledge that drives the development of advanced software solutions supporting plant development, plant operations, and turbine products.

The Customer Tools team is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting high-quality software tools and services that enable efficient servicing and operation of Vestas wind turbines. The team's solutions support both field and remote service activities, including diagnostics, data insights, configuration management, and the deployment of new software to turbines and related systems. By ensuring robust, reliable, and user-centric tools, Customer Tools plays a key role in maintaining operational excellence and enhancing performance across the global fleet.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve the technical architecture of software components and services used in turbine and plant operations
• Provide clear technical direction to the team, ensuring high‑quality architecture, reliability, and scalability
• Translate business and functional requirements into clear technical designs and development plans
• Ensure best‑practice implementation across the codebase for complex modules
• Guide architectural decisions and contribute to the long‑term technical roadmap
• Write high‑quality, maintainable, and testable code, setting the standard for the rest of the team
• Perform technical investigations, diagnose complex issues, and lead root‑cause analysis
• Mentor developers of different experience levels and help raise the technical maturity of the team
• Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, and cross‑functional stakeholders to align on priorities
• Ensure documentation is accurate and kept up‑to‑date
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and engineering culture

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
• 6+ years of professional experience in software development
• Extensive experience in C# /.NET and object‑oriented design
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and testing practices
• Experience in leading technical discussions and guiding architectural decisions
• Demonstrated experience working with complex or distributed systems
• Solid methodological and problem‑solving skills
• Comfortable collaborating in cross‑functional environments
• Experience defining or contributing to software architecture
• Solid debugging and diagnostic skills
• Knowledge of high‑availability or large‑scale systemsExperience with REST APIs and integration patterns
• Experience guiding or mentoring engineers

Competencies

• Ability to break down complex requirements into clear, actionable technical tasks
• Clear communication skills, able to explain technical topics to different audiences
• Ability to lead by example through code quality, reviews, and best practices
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., xUnit) and CI/CD
• Solid understanding of version control (GIT) and Agile/SCRUM methodologies
• Experience with WPF
• Experience with Azure
• Familiarity with Octopus Deploy
• Experience with UX/UI collaboration
• Understanding of microservices architecture
• Knowledge of low‑level protocols
• Experience with software installers (Advanced Installer, etc.)
• Experience with code obfuscation tools (SmartAssembly, etc.)
