Plant Design & Risk Modelling is anchored in Vestas R&D. Vestas R&D is where new product ideas and technologies are developed, matured, tested, and improved. As a cornerstone of Vestas, R&D plays a critical role in developing sustainable energy solutions.
The Plant Design & Risk Modelling department operates across two key areas: developing Vestas’ site assessment platform and advancing our risk offering and warranty framework. The department works in close collaboration with stakeholders across the Vestas value chain to deliver data-driven solutions that support both business performance and customer value creation. The team consists of highly skilled, international, and cross-disciplinary professionals based in Denmark and Portugal, bringing together diverse skills and perspectives.

Responsibilities
- Continuously develop and maintain one of Vestas' core simulation tools used for site-specific load evaluation
- Decompose, modularize, and enhance scientific computation systems in close collaboration with domain experts, and integrate them into a highly scalable cloud environment
- Develop well-structured, maintainable, and testable code, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
- Collaborate closely with end users, business stakeholders, and the IT organization to understand needs and deliver impactful solutions
- Participate in agile team practices, supporting continuous improvement in collaboration, processes, and ways of working
- Interest in agile facilitation or a potential future path toward a Scrum Master role is considered an advantage
Qualifications
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Solid programming skills in .NET/C# or similar object-oriented languages
- Experience in software engineering and software architecture, including areas such as API design, system design, testability, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working with service-oriented architectures and/or microservice-based architectures
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar, to accelerate learning and responsibly support implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation
- Familiarity with the following technologies: MS SQL Server, Snowflake, web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular), ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, and Azure DevOps/GitHub

This is a hybrid position based in Porto, Portugal. Applicants must be authorized to work in Portugal. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
