Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is the integrated CTO and COO organization within Vestas, encompassing the full industrial value chain - from Research & Development, Procurement and Manufacturing to Supply Chain and Quality. Within VTO, R&D's main responsibility is to innovate and develop onshore and offshore products, as well as plant and energy solutions, by translating market value drivers into our R&D functions that design and develop these solutions for our customers.

The Powertrain Module within the Nacelle R&D function is primarily accountable for converting mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical power. It consists of Sub-modules and building blocks such as the Gearbox, Generator, Main bearing arrangement and lubrication system, and auxiliary components such as brakes, couplings, and suspension/damper systems.

We also have close collaboration with external partners, technical institutes and internally with Product, several other modules within R&D and the entire value chain across Vestas. The Powertrain module consists of around 170 employees across Denmark, Germany, Portugal, and India. The Powertrain Project Management department consists of around 20 highly skilled and qualified Project Managers with various levels of experience (Senior PMs, Lead PMs, PMs, and Associate PMs) working out of Portugal and Denmark. The PM department is responsible & accountable for the portfolio management and execution of projects in the Powertrain Module. We have ownership of the entire lifecycle of the products & solutions (end-to-end in full value chain) for the projects we execute, and we execute projects across different portfolios (Technology, New Products - Onshore/Offshore, Cost out and Projects to support the Operational part of the Business like Service, Manufacturing, etc.).

 

Responsibilities

You will be working inside the Project Management department and reporting to the Module Program manager. Your main responsibility (min. 50% of time) will be administrative support for the Module Owner, Module Program Manager, and Submodule owners within the Powertrain module. The rest of the time will be spent acting as a Project Planner, supporting the Project Managers in the Project Management department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Calendar management for the module owner
  • Managing practicalities around organizing Powertrain management meetings and strategy sessions (travel, meeting room, etc.)
  • Manage administrative tasks for Module owner (e.g., Purchase request approvals, SAP approvals, etc.)
  • Support the Module Owner and Module Program Manager by creating relevant analysis and reports related to the performance metrics of the Powertrain Module
  • Support the Module Owner and Module Program Manager in creating reports for management
  • Regularly monitor relevant performance metrics and process compliance within the module
  • Support Project Managers with critical projects by acting as planner (Follow up on JIRA tasks, Project tasks, documentation, resource booking by line managers, Risk tool tracking, etc.)

 

Qualifications

  • Degree within a relevant academic field (e.g., Engineering or Business)
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of demonstrated experience in project support and planning in complex global matrix organizations
  • Proficient in using Microsoft tools - Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint
  • Experience in supporting several tasks simultaneously and working with management
  • Use Microsoft Co-pilot (or equivalent AI tools) to automate relevant tasks to improve efficiency
  • Great language skills (verbal and written) in English are required
  • Experience in using Project management tools - SAP PPM, Microsoft Project, JIRA

Additional information

This is a hybrid position based in Porto, Portugal and requires up to 15 days of travel per year.
